As someone who never watched the original Punky and only got into it because of my wife and because of how good the reboot was, this was some shitty news to me. I loved the original Saved By The Bell back years ago, but this new one didn’t even get a chuckle out of me.
There is no reason why Punky and Saved By The Bell both couldn’t have been renewed. Heck I don’t even know anyone who watches the new Saved By The Bell yet acknowledges its existence.

I didn't get a chance to check out Punky Brewster. But I did watch Saved by the Bell and personally I loved it. I thought it was a great modern take on the series. It's very different from the original show but not really in a bad way. I don't know how popular it is, but I talked to a few others who liked it too.

The new SBTB is sh**.
I loved Punky Brewster as a kid. I will check out the reboot.
As far as those decisions go, it is based on a few things.
A) Raw Streaming Numbers B) YouTube and Social Media clicks (sometimes the clips will get 1-10 M views but people don’t watch the show constantly. C) Critical Acclaim. Some shows will literally stay on a streaming service to give them credibility and future projects with big name directors and actors (seeing awards).
So, it could be that SBTB reboot gets more views, or they get more social media buzz.
I don’t watch SBTB reboot, but for guilty pleasure I’ll watch some of the 3 minute clips on YouTube with Zack, Slater, Kelly or Jessie and I notice they have lots of views.

Wait you don't watch it but you still say it's sh*t? I think try at least an episode before giving it a label like that. Like I said personally I thought it was very good. It's just completely different than the original. The original is a classic sitcom. The new one is off beat and has very niche humor. So really they are for different audiences, which is kinda weird.

What I mean is, I did watch the first few episodes. Then I quit, because it wasn’t good (in my opinion). But every now and then I watch the clips.
