I would guess more, there seems to be more interest in it.

Don't know. Don't care. I hope both make enough money to keep making these kinds of movies rolling. Why does it matter if they beat each other at the box office?ย I guess it matters because Shang Chiโs box office fell below expectations. If that trend continues then they wonโt be making these kinds of movies. To answer the question, yes, it will, unless the critics savage it, or China decides not to release it.

It seems to be the prediction. If it happens though, couldn't say.

The review embargo has lifted and it's not great so far.
Not bad. But not great.

Huh. I have to admit that I was expecting the early reviews to be a lot more glowing.

Huh. I have to admit that I was expecting the early reviews to be a lot more glowing. The most recent TV spots make the Eternals looks like the Avengers vs evil Deceptions from the Transformers films. I thought the Deviants were humanoid mutants in the comics. Not liking the creature designs so far.

Currently at 66, so definitely possible. I doubt this will end up rotten but Iโm curious to see if itโll be close.

I doubt this will end up rotten but Iโm curious to see if itโll be close. Wow, I just checked this last night and it was still sitting at 71%. So right now it's tied for the lowest ranked MCU movie ever. That's pretty bad. But yeah, I doubt it will end up being rotten. My guess is it settles in the low 60's.

Anyway to answer the topic, I don't think it will match Shang Chi. Black Widow had star power and character recognition. Shang Chi had good word of mouth and an Asian-American demographic to pull on. If Eternals has none of these, then I don't see it matching Shang Chi in a post pandemic world. Not unless restrictions suddenly lessen a lot more than what they were when Shang Chi was shown. I'm still going to try and watch it in theaters though.

Yes I remember before there was a pandemic. others franchises are fairing better, why is marvel doing less than 50% of their average while while other franchises are doing 66% of their average ? Bad product?
