This was inevitable, pitchers just get worse and worst at it, so I get it....but watching deGrom swat RBI doubles last year was so awesome. And it will never happen again. I understand the rationale. The pitchers are dropping off like sprayed flies, and need to be protected. Just hate to see the distinction between the two leagues gone. The distinction is dying anyway. This is the nail to the coffin. Not only that, I don't know the specifics, but I believe part of the new CBA is that imbalanced scheduling is gone. So now the games against division opponents will be trimmed down, and every team will play every other team in the game at least once every year. In other words, now the Mets would rotate each AL division against whom they play each year (other than the annual Subway Series). Now they'll play the Twins, Tigers, Mariners, etc. once per season. I believe this starts next season, but again, not positive.

The Yankees hardly plays the Mariners, Angels, A's and Royals anymore. I rather see more games against them than games against the Phillies, Marlins, or the Nationals, or most other NL teams.

Uh oh, apparently the league and the players association are "revisiting the zombie runner" rule. According to Jayson Stark of the Athletic, a lot of players liked the rule because it largely stopped the marathon extra inning games. If implemented, the zombie runner wouldn't go into effect in the 10th inning, but more likely it would be the 11th or 12th.

Gotta hand it to the Phillies, as they bring in Brad Hand to join their pen. Jose Valverde is a flamethrower and newly-minted closer Corey Knebel should bring stability to the back-end. Let's see if this year's bullpen can not ruin the Phillies season again.
Jose *Alvarado?

Jose *Alvarado? Yeah, oops. Jose Valverde was a closer a few years back for the Dbacks, Astros and Tigers.

Mariners get Eugenio Suarez and Jesse Winker from the Redlegs for prospects, Jake Fraley, Justin Dunn, Brandon Williamson and the much traveled Player T.B. Named. I think Winker is a very underrated player. This could be the trade of the year for the M's.

Damm, that's incredible for the Ms, they have a boatload of young talent and more on the way even with this trade. Fucking Reds. Agree on Winker, even though he's a smirking douchebag. He's also useless against lefties, but he mashes righties. What a deft move. And if Suarez can right the ship a little bit, he's still a potent power threat. If he can have a Jorge Soler-esque renaissance, then holy hell.

Watching all these franchises get big-name free agents or make big trades and then going to see what the Guardians pulled off so far... the G's sign Luke Maile to a one-year $900,000 contract.Wicked. Looks like we're set for another off-season where we get to watch the G's maile it in.

Twins are frontrunners for A's pitchers Sean Manaea and Frankie Montas. Damn, I didn't expect the Twins to be a big mover in the Hot Stove League. I think Gio Urshela could flourish away from NYC. Gary Sanchez too but the Twins want nothing to do with him. tough division, the White Sox aren't going anywhere. Detroit and KC are on the rise. Twins don't want to sink

If Freeman is a Blue Jay, they will win 400 games this season. You read it here first.

Braves land Matt Olson in a trade! Huge news, and I'm guessing that means Freddie Freeman is signing elsewhere. Olson isn't in Freeman's class (only Vlad Jr. is at 1B these days), but Olson is a great defender, a slugger and has improved his game every year (excluding 2020, which doesn't count). Huge trade (not sure who they gave up just yet). EDIT: Braves send Christian Pache, catcher Shea Langeliers and right-handers Joey Estes and Ryan Cusick to Oakland. goodbye sweet prince

New player in the Freddie Freeman Freeforall. That team from Massachusetts Kind of a perfect fit. That would probably put them over the luxury tax threshold this year, but after this coming season, they have something like $75m in committed payroll, and that includes Xander Boegarts who will all but certainly opt out after the year. Interesting if they swoop in and steal him from the Dodgers.

Interesting if they swoop in and steal him from the Dodgers. And it makes Bobby Dalbec expendable. Dalbec did have a nice 2nd half (and an o-fer in the playoffs). Do they NEED Freeman, not really. I suppose they could make Dalbec a utility/pinch hitter, play FF at 1b and then make them both 1b/DH when JD walks after this year. It could be a situation where the Sox want him just because eveyone else does. Last time that happened, Carl Crawford.

Ya know, maybe the owners and players should go back to the table to make sure everything is iron-clad signed, sealed, and delivered in labor negotiations. If we start on, say, July 1st, that's a small price to pay for having everything tied up with a nice, neat bow.

Padres enter the Fred Freeman Fantasmagoria (I love the alliteration!). The bonus of the universal DH, Hosmer becomes DH if the Friars can't move the rest of his $114,000,000 (good luck with that).

So there is a NYC Kyrie rule for unvaccinated Yankees and Mets too? They can't play home games if they aren't vaccinated?
Yankees and Mets didn't make domes in the offseason, did they?
