It’s impossible for them to deliver a satisfying ending next week. They waited way too long to set things up. Harrison just found out who his father really is last episode so anything they do now to end this story will be far too rushed.

Just binged episodes 7-9. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 Those needle marks in their necks were HUGE. HUGE! Maybe in the dead guys, but it's been a few days at least, should be nothing but a slight bruise left at most on the living guy. He burned down Dexter's cabin, and planned to shoot them with his gun? Is he trying to get caught? How's he gotten away with it for 25 years if he's willing to make these massive public displays? Yes, he shoots them all, but he doesn't typically commit arson, which will lead to a legit investigation, of which is obviously arson. Who knows what kind of evidence he could have left behind. The amount of attention that could bring. Dexter purposely triggers Kurt's camera (he gets an awfully good signal out in the middle of the woods close to a small town), that footage could be on God knows what server. And with Kurt missing police could specifically look for it. He started embalming them after Iris, I guess? Angela seems to be connecting the dots that Jim/Dexter is the BHB far too easily for me. If Dexter ends up on Harrison's table next episode this season and ending are nearly as bad as season 8. When it comes to Kurt, I think a lot of that stuff is intentional because they were trying to show how unhinged he had become and that he was at the end of his rope. I don't really think Kurt was thinking about the consequences of his actions. He just walked from a potential murder charge, so he was feeling untouchable. Also, I think I missed the part of Dexter intentionally triggering the camera. I saw him step on the rope that triggered it, but I didn't notice Dexter do it on purpose. I thought it was by mistake and he didn't realize. Also, yes the footage could hurt Dexter if found. I do agree it feels like Angela is putting this together all too quickly. I mean I'm not against some small town cop figuring out Dexter. I just think it would probably take more time and be a little less coincidental. Going in when I heard they were doing a revival I thought instantly it should be at least 20 episode split over two parts. There's still a lot to cover. I think Angela slowly figuring it out would have worked better. I honestly don't think it's gonna end with Harrison killing Dexter. I could be wrong. Episode 10 is called "Sins of the Father". I get the feeling Harrison might be the one who ends up dying some how. They really love the angel of Dexter being cursed and hurting those who he loves. So I wouldn't be surprised if Dexter teaching Harrison the code somehow leads to Harrison's death. Just a guess. I still don't think these episodes have been bad though. I mean I'm biased. I love Dexter. But I always thought even at its weakest Dexter is very enjoyable. I love the tone of the show and Michael C. Hall playing this character. Clancy Brown has played a great villain. I'd argue he's actually one of Dexter's best villains. I really like the kid who they casted as Harrison. I think he does a good job. The show can definitely be messy, but for me it's kinda a beautiful mess.

@thebayharborbuycher Dexter nearly triggered it, Harrison pointed it out, and Dexter said its time Kurt knew, the purposely stepped on the rope.

I loved the finale. Part of me is sad because I think if they wanted to they could have done more seasons with Dexter. I think there was still more story to tell. However, I’m not upset with the choices they made. I think it was a very fitting ending for Dexter’s character and the story itself.

I’ll say the same thing I said about the Game of Thrones finale. Great ideas. Flawed execution. On paper, this was a perfect finale. But it felt rushed and forced and unsatisfying. Thematically sound but poorly written.
Example: Dexter killing what’s his name in the jail was clearly to show Harrison and the audience that ultimately, he is the bad guy here. But it was out of the blue. No build up. No real reaction from Dexter. It was a perfect idea. I always wanted to see what would happen if Dexter had to make a choice like that. But it felt lazy here. Too fast and without proper emphasis. It should have been a BIG moment for the series… but it wasn’t.
The last two episodes crammed way too much in. This episode alone could’ve been half the season. No room to breathe at all. Angela discovers Kurt’s secrets but has no time to consider the moral murkiness of what Dexter does. Missed opportunity. Harrison goes from idolizing his dad to killing him in one episode. And why send Batista to NY only to never show him arrive?!
I have to say though that the internet comments (on reddit especially) are hilariously over the top. This was at least better than the last finale. And that’s a fact!

I have to say though that the internet comments (on reddit especially) are hilariously over the top. This was at least better than the last finale. And that’s a fact! Fair points. I definitely agree with the rushed aspects. When it comes to Dexter killing Logan I think we all know he would do that if he were backed into a corner. He was all set to kill LaGuerta until Deb stepped in. I think the bigger issue was, why was he so uncharacteristically sloppy? He was in a bad spot. No question. However, there really wasn't solid evidence against him. With the right lawyer he likely could have gotten out of the situation. Then he and Harrison could have left town and started over. Killing Logan like he did right in the jail cell 100% sealed his fate. A big part of me doesn't get why he gave up so easily? Now if I'm looking at this from Clyde Phillips perspective, I remember him staying that Dexter was rusty after all these years. Maybe he was just tired of everything too. Fighting against who he was. Fighting to hide. Maybe he felt like he just didn't have it in him to take on this massive court case to prove his "innocence". That could all be true, but I think the writers needed to show more of that for it to really register. All this being said, for me, there is just something about Dexter that even when it's flawed I can't help but love it. MCH just kills it as this character. It always keeps me at the edge of my seat even when I have to suspend my disbelief. Overall I enjoyed New Blood. I'm still very happy they did it. I wish it were longer. I wish there was more seasons with Dexter, but I'm not sure that what Clyde Phillips or Michael C. Hall wanted. I think those 2 guys gave the ending they wanted, which I'm happy for them. If they proceed forward with a Harrison spinoff I'll be there watching.

If they proceed forward with a Harrison spinoff I'll be there watching. Another way to fix it would’ve been to actually let Angela find solid proof. They even emphasized that her accusations about Kurt’s son wouldn’t stick. And proving the Bay Harbor thing in court with her evidence would’ve been a huge reach. Why not just give her an actual smoking gun to put Dexter in a real corner? It was so poorly done. I do agree with you though. Even when Dexter is poorly written I still find the show captivating. I just wish this season had a few rewrites because I think the ideas were there to make something special.
