Grande will play Glinda the Good Witch and Erivo will play Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West.

Ariana must be ecstatic. She's really good friends with Kristin Chenoweth and says she's her idol. This must be a dream come true for her.

Well my interest for this movie just dropped TREMENDOUSLY!!! Don’t really care for Grande and I’m not even sure who the other woman is.
Also I still don’t like Jon Chu as director. In The heights was nothing special and Jem was horrible. Why should I trust him with Wicked again?

Cynthia Erivo Is actually a good singer and actress but that’s my opinion after only seeing her in two films, Harriet and Bad Times at the El Royale.

Elphaba is supposed to be like a college student, but Cynthia looks older, but it may not matter cause she’s gonna be under green makeup. Also that still doesn’t answer my question about why I should trust Jon Chu with this?

I haven’t seen any of the previous films by the director so can’t really comment on him apart from noticing that the two you mentioned were not well received.

You don't like the director yet you had interest in his next project before they announced the casting? Silly question, but may I ask how old she is? She’s 34 which is old enough to play a high school student in Grease. I'm not sure if this is really spoiler, considering this is a prequel, but I'll add the tags just in case. The plot begins when she starts college, but it ends with a slightly altered recreation of the events of "The Wizard of Oz". By that point, she's in her late 20s (maybe early 30s).

I loved the musical Wicked and I was always worried about him directing. I watched In The Heights to see if he was capable of directing a good adaption of it. I still don’t think he can pull it off, but I guess we’ll wait and see.

I could think of way better people to play Glinda.

The show was good - certainly a great spectacle - in truth I couldn't name an Ariane Grande song if I had a gun pointed at my head, but Erivo was excellent in BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE and on the basis of that can certainly carry a tune.
