The MCU feels directionless. What are we supposed to be building to? DIVERSITY If Spider-Man doesn't deliver, phase 4 could end up worse than 2. Because here on out it looks bleak. Black Panther? Marvels? Dr. Strange? Ant Man? What are the odds any of those are better than just okay? There's no payoff.

What are the odds any of those are better than just okay? There's no payoff. Dr. Strange and Thor both have a lot of promise. And to be fair with the Eternals, the audience score is fairly high. Based on my experience, the audience score is normally more accurate than critic scores.

The MCU feels directionless. What are we supposed to be building to? Seemingly Kang. They've put an emphasis on the multiverse in Phase 4 which surely will lead to him especially with Loki and the upcoming Ant-Man featuring him. It's all a bit muddled though.

Saw a shows yesterday that said it's RT audience rating was 12th overall I'm the MCU, which would put it in the middle of the pack. Seems like it's love or hate it movie.

Yeah I believe that Kang the Conqueror is being set up as the new threat.

I'm just glad that "X-Men: Apocalypse" (2016) - an epic and brilliant superhero movie - crossed the 500 million dollars mark (543.9 million dollars) and was a big hit all over the world, outgrossing Shang-Chi and Black Widow.
ETERNALS is already forgotten.
The X-Men movie franchise was the best of the best. Bleak, intense, intelligent and very "sci-fi-like". Blows the MCU and its cartoonish quality away.
Now, the superhero trend is 100% over, and the cinema experience is super-dead (sadly). Thank God, we have the home video releases. Must buy the new X-Men box-set.

If a pandemic needs to hit before an MCU movie performs lower than an X-Men movie then that tells you just how lackluster those X-Men movies are.

No, the movies are bad and uninteresting. Pandemy is past, and theatres are open. People are tired to listen the same old jokes and one-liners, as well as having funny superheroes not being serious and being cartoonish.

No, no the pandemic isn't past and while some theaters are open, they're nowhere near to operating at full capacity. You also have the remember that these phase 4 MCU movies are not only contending against the pandemic but they've also been banned from the China market, the 2nd largest market after the US. Had X-Men Apocalypse opened today with the same challenges then it would probably struggle to even hit $200 million.

At the end of day, "Apocalypse" outgrossed them. That's what truly matters.

Well that's what reviews are for, and X-Men apocalypse is rated quite lower than any MCU flick. What matters is whether or not the X-Men movies were good enough to have made the same success as the MCU movies... they did not because they were nowhere near as good. That's a fact.

As simple as that, X-Men movies are adult, brilliant sci-fi/superhero works, aimed at a public of sci-fi lovers. MCU films are mostly aimed at kids and children. NO MCU movie will ever get the respect and the love from adults as X2, DAYS, LOGAN and many others. Sorry, man.
