Hi
I was highjacked off this site today by McAfee (or someone pretending to be McAfee) trying to sell me anti virus software. Don't know if there's a problem with your security, but figured I'd let you know.

Apparently this has been happening to some other people on this forum, myself included. Hope something can be done about this, it's really annoying.

This is why I don't like ads on any website...
I've seen a few talking about needing to get security updates for Windows, or as people here are saying... antivirus software.
How is anyone supposed to know if it is legit or not?
With so many ads, coming from who knows where, which all seem to be automated in some way... You can't.
I try to ignore all ads because of the number of scams out there.
And I am sure, this is not what most websites want to see happen.

Yes! I posted (link below) on Nov. 8th, with an updated yesterday. This was on the "Classic Film," board. It is a relentless pursuit to get the user to re-sign with the McAfee "coverage," which has "run out." I never had their protection, in the first place. When I first log on, I can delete multiple alerts, in rapid-fire succession. Their "alerts," are focused, mainly, on McAfee virus warnings. But, there have been messages about an expected Amazon delivery, when I wasn't expecting a delivery. AND, yesterday, they branched-out, into messages about "Bitcoin." imdb2.freeforums.net/post/5134339/quote/286534

Same.
Thought it was just me, my sub with them runs out in 2 weeks, though I re-upped this week.
Now I'm getting spam'ish sites taking hold.
Their 'history' is about a dozen pages back too when I click. At least I'm not being tapped by China all by myself.

ProBoards recently updated their ad system. They're so confident about it they removed the "Report Ad" link from the bottom of the forum; they said it would no longer be necessary. Seems something went wrong along the way.

Seems something went wrong along the way. Admin Just to clarify ... On my computer, the incessant pop-ups are not confined to this site. They occur everywhere, and they're not in the usual placements that one finds other "ads." These come in suddenly from the right hand side of the screen. Usually, it's on the lower half of the screen, and they cover whatever content is in the text and/or video that I'm looking at. Thanks for your post.

Try Malwarebytes.
