FUN with Jehovah's Witnesses

I have often wondered what happens to the survivors of that particularly bad thing.  Do they all become atheist?  Or are they conned into staying in the church by some faux apology or settlement or 'need to forgive'.

I'm ex-Southern Baptist, now atheist, but that church messed with my head, telling me that I needed to ignore my own basic survival needs to focus on helping others. And to always trust people who say, "oh, I love Jesus, too".  I got used and conned for years until I developed critical thinking skills and learned about behavioral analysis.

I've never openly gone public with any of this, given my desire to just live my quiet little life, but here where I am anonymous, I can voice frustration and anger.  I am content to let others believe what they want - I don't go out to recruit atheists - but I certainly wish they would stop trying to convert me when I say, "Thanks, but no, thanks." There is a particularly active bunch of JWs in the area where I live, and after 40 years of telling them to leave me alone, they still persist. Handwritten letters, brochures stuck in the front door... at least no more knocks on the door, due to the pandemic.
