be good enough for people to be contempt about dying and they should be more excited about that than the possibility of an afterlife in God's Heaven?

Becoming part of the earth doesn't excite me at all. Ideally I never would have been on this earth at all. Heaven, we're told, is supposed to be better than we can imagine. What does becoming part of the earth do for me when I'm dead?

I wasn't aware those were mutually exclusive options. "By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return." Genesis 3:19

Of course, part of the natural circle of life, the wonders of which are far superior to any superstition.

We don't have a choice. Every atom in our bodies will either be buried or burned at death. Not one atom or quark even will go to Heaven. And maybe in some dim distant future, the atoms that were once part of our bodies will be disseminated throughout the universe and maybe become part of some other life form. So we have that happy possibility to look forward to. Myself, I'm looking forward to a long nap from which I won't have to wake up and go pee.

Just have a green funeral and fertilize a tree.

You don't need to disseminate throughout the universe. Just have a green funeral and fertilize a tree. But at some point, about 5 billion years from now, the Sun will go Red Giant and anything on or near the surface of the Earth will be blown off as particulate ash to spread out into the universe. If the universe is eternal, then there all of us who ever lived will be floating in eternity. I don't know about you, but I am not my body.

There still remains in a huge number of people the inability to think that they may simply be a product of the physical, ie everything about them boils down to a process in the body. I am split, I like to think we are more than just our physical and I feel like I can 'see' in creatures and living things an animation or spirit that is more than just the basics of their mechanisms.
While that is still the case the cold embrace of the earth may not be enough

Which Heaven are you talking about? Ever notice that people usually don't have much trouble describing hell, but stumble when describing heaven?

Ever notice that people usually don't have much trouble describing hell, but stumble when describing heaven? Which is ironic because the Bible describes heaven quite well, but is short on hell's description. Since the Bible was written in ancient Hebrew and Aramaic, translations vary greatly, and so there is no single count for the occurrence of the word "heaven." Rather, its appearance differs according to which translation is used. The King James version of the Bible mentions the word "heaven" 327 times in the Old Testament and 255 times in the New Testament. Meanwhile, the word appears only 186 times in the New International Version's Old Testament and 236 times in its New Testament. In the New Revised Standard Version, "heaven" appears 246 times in the Old Testament and 248 times in the New Testament. www.reference.com/world-view/many-times-heaven-mentioned-bible-a401ce6e93dd2edf***** Does the Old Testament mention hell?
This is what the Old Testament taught. And in fact, it’s not right. Our view that you die and your soul goes to heaven or hell is not found anywhere in the Old Testament , and it’s not what Jesus preached.
Does the word hell appear in the Bible?
The word hell does not appear in the Greek New Testament; instead one of three words is used: the Greek words Tartarus or Hades, or the Hebrew word Gehinnom. In the Septuagint and New Testament the authors used the Greek term Hades for the Hebrew Sheol, but often with Jewish rather than Greek concepts in mind.
How long did Jesus stay in hell?
Of the three days, Christ says “I was dead” (Greek egenomen nekros ἐγενόμην νεκρὸς, Latin fui mortuus).
When was hell invented?
St. Augustine’s interpretation of hell set the tone for official doctrine over the next 1,500 years. But it was Augustine of Hippo and his book, City of God, published in A.D. 426, that set the tone for official doctrine over the next 1,500 years. Hell existed not to reform or deter sinners, he argued.
What Jesus says about hell?
Jesus Christ says in Matthew 25:41, “Depart from me, ye cursed, into EVERLASTING FIRE, prepared for the devil and his angels.” In Matthew 13:42, Jesus says : “And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”
Where is Heaven and Hell located?
The area of the upper astral plane of Earth in the upper atmosphere where the various heavens are located is called Summerland (Theosophists believe hell is located in the lower astral plane of Earth which extends downward from the surface of the earth down to its center).
Where is hell first mentioned in the Bible?
“Gehenna” in the New Testament, where it is described as a place where both soul and body could be destroyed (Matthew 10:28) in “unquenchable fire” (Mark 9:43). The word is translated as either ” Hell ” or ” Hell fire” in many English versions.ccaugusta.org/jesus/how-many-times-does-jesus-mention-hell.html It's always good to read something truly informative, and since you studied all this stuff, you know where to find it!

Then to the elements go, and fare thou well.
Last line of The Tempest
To the elements is where I want to go. Not burial in a coffin or a crypt. I want to return to the earth.

I won't be doing either when I die. When I die...my spirit will be freed and I'll trip around the universe and beyond visiting places mere mortals only dream of. At least that's what I'll imagine I'll be doing until I actually die at which point I...the me that might think about things like that...will no longer exist. Only the atoms that make up my body will continue on and I won't be worrying about it.
