Hello, good folks of FG. The weekly film discussion thread is back.
The topic under discussion is made clear in the title. Made-for-TV, direct-to-video, streaming, TV series/episodes, documentaries, short films can also be listed.

The minimum requirement is that a numerical rating out of 5 or 10 be provided - whichever the poster wishes to choose - and it'll be even more helpful if he/she also writes a few thoughts regarding his/her experience with the feature/documentary/short/TV series' season. This will help in starting discussions, which is one of the main intentions of this thread. I also request all those who reply here to go through the whole thread once and see if you can see some common topic to discuss with other posters.
My last week went thus. (I will post write-ups a little later) :

Solid courtroom thriller starring James Woods at his peak and Robert Downey jr. lending strong support. Looking back, I concede that the script is rather contrived, with many solutions falling into the heroes' laps. But the performances make this all the more entertaining.

SECOND VIEWING
My rating came down a point from the last time I viewed it. It is still quite enjoyable and I appreciated its attempt to delve into the concept of id as well as split personalities. I only wish the villains were not such a dull commonplace lot.

It's certainly bad but I would be lying if I said that I did not laugh a few times, despite myself. I also have to appreciate the filmmakers' total commitment to making a live-action film as close to a cartoon as possible. They may have gone terribly over the top but they certainly did not half-ass it.

It was pleasant enough, with decent acting and a nice soundtrack. I just don't find it especially memorable.

This is a spoof of 70s wave of disaster films, four years before Airplane! It doesn't come anywhere close to that film's hilarity, though. True, it has a very talented cast including (but not limited to) Joseph Bologna, Stockard Channing, Ruth Gordon, Richard Mulligan, Sally Kellerman, Ned Beatty etc. But these veterans are given very little to improvise. Ruth Gordon, in particular, is underused to a criminal degree. I did manage to chuckle at a few jokes.

Frequently hilarious, as I had expected from Landis, Chase and Aykroyd. What I did not expect was how scary-serious it got in the last act. It was as if an entirely different film was going on behind my back. I welcomed the surprise.

Could have been better had it not been for the stupid plot leaps and holes in the last half an hour. Still, I did not hate it. It looks great and DeNiro and Snipes do their thing. Even Leguizamo was much less annoying than usual.
