Did they really spend $200 million on this 2nd rate knock-off of National Treasure? (A 2nd rate movie in its own right)
I mean, the first 2/3 of the movie wasn’t bad. Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds were kinda hilarious. Good chemistry. Gal Gadot was fine (god, she can’t act her way out of a shoe box, but schwing!)
A little over half way through the movie, it was as if they replaced a relatively competent writer with a drooling moron. It got painfully idiotic.
At the end, it was obvious they expected a sequel. I wouldn’t count on it.

I thoroughly enjoyed it for what it is - a mindless action comedy that doesn't take itself seriously.

The Rock doesn't exactly make quality movies. Even his better movies are just okay.

Saw this pop up yesterday. I’ll check it out. I don’t usually expect this type of flick to be anything special so my bar is low.

Don't tell a user called Skaathar that idiot thinks Gal could lead the United States into a war or something.

Would have preferred they just made a Hobbs and Shaw part 2 then added Gadot in it.

A lot of the budget was probably for cast salaries.

Didn’t expect anything special…and it’s not anything special. It’s exactly what it looks like, as painfully mediocre as that might be. I wouldn’t call it bad…or even disappointing, since I didn’t know it existed until it was released…but it’s just so average. It’s a movie that was fine for two hours but I’ll probably forget I’ve seen it in five years and I can think of no reason to rewatch it other than to see Gal Gadot, who looked amazing and I will add, I see her getting a lot of flack and I don’t really understand why. I thought she fit the femme fatale role for most of this film. I enjoyed her presence here and I thought she did enough with a pretty standard character to be enjoyable. All 3 leads fit their characters well…it’s just those characters are literally cookie cutter for particular roles.
The biggest flaw for me was whenever the film used cgi it felt painfully obvious. Like the coloration or speed or something was off and it stuck out like a sore thumb ever time.
I give it 2.5 muscly arms up. It’s a by the books affair that is watchable but probably only once. I’ve no interest in a sequel unless I hear something special about it.

I actually liked the twist in the end. That breathed life into an otherwise mediocre movie. I also liked Gadot in this. The Rock acted like the Rock does in every other film his in, Ryan Reynolds acted like Ryan Reynolds, so it was nice to see Gadot portray a different kind of character.

It's nothing special and I didn't expect it to be, so for what it is, it's alright.

Of course they are. And I'm willing to bet Jason Statham will be the villain in the next movie. Kevin Hart might also make an appearance. And yes, there will be a jungle scene.

Hart seems almost a guarantee. I preferred Dwayne Johnson's banter with Statham more than his banter with Reynolds. Hope Statham joins the group.
