10 Yard Fight was a decent game back in the day. But I think most would laugh at it today. I remember when the original John Madden Football game came out on the Sega Genesis (and SNES). I was shocked by how good it was.
It was the first time we ever saw real football strategy portrayed in a video game. Needless to say, it became the biggest selling sports game of all-time.
However, I think FIFA soccer has passed it up as the best selling sports game of today. And of course the much more advanced Madden games of today still sell millions of copies every year.
The original Joe Montana Football game also for the Genesis was a great game too. In fact, it was probably better than Madden at the time. It had follow up games called "joe montana sports talk" but I didn't care for those games. I thought the original was better.
It's funny when you look at the screens of those games today and then compare it to what we have now...

I like the two games because they're classics and ... state of the art games. At least they were in 1985.
