Haven't heard the best things about it, but I do feel like any movie of his is worth seeing at least once.

I liked it, but honestly I think I’m the only one. Every post I’ve read about it was negative. Keep your expectations low.

It wasn't much really, not even as good as his 90s output which was a dropoff from his 70s and 80s stuff...but if you're a fan, then yeah it's worth a watch.

It is a cliche generic horror movie that feels like a 100% paycheck job, lacking almost anything resembling what made John Carpenter a memorable director in the first place.
It is my least favorite of his movies and it is only worth watching if you are a John Carpenter completist.
4.5/10

It was alright until the ending, which is one of those endings that make everything that came before it a complete waste of time. You can skip.

I thought it was okay for the most part. The twist is stupid though and brings the whole thing down. I liked the score though.

I'm a dedicated John Carpenter fan and have it on dvd, but I've still only watched it once. He was a hired hand on this project and I believe he was dealing with serious health issues at the time, if I recall correctly. Don't think he had a hand in writing the screenplay, or got involved in composing the music. It's competently handled as you'd expect, but my recollection is that it falls awfully flat.
I do intend to watch it again at some point, but I was disappointed at the time.

It's watchable but is clearly the work of a filmmaker who hadn't worked in a long time and wasn't invested in what he was doing. This is why I'm such a defender of Wes Craven's last original work My Soul To Take. This was a filmmaker that found a lot of success later in his career working within the industry, and admittedly to diminishing returns with Cursed and Scream 4, though Red Eye is a good matinee thriller. But sitting there watching My Soul To Take opening night I was in awe. It is a bad movie, nothing in it makes sense, but it is the work of a visionary filmmaker that believed in what he was making, and in my opinion is a highlight of his career. It plays out like a fever dream you'd have after watching Scream and Nightmare on Elm Street sick in bed.

Sorry if my answer sounds like a cop-out, but I believe all movies are worth watching. Even if they're bad, they can still provide a memorable experience. However, if you're asking this question because you're too busy with your personal life and/or because there are other movies you're interested in watching instead... Then yeah, you can skip this one. It's not even "so bad that it's become an anti-classic." It is a cliche generic horror movie that feels like a 100% paycheck job, lacking almost anything resembling what made John Carpenter a memorable director in the first place. Yeah, it felt like anyone could've made it. There's a certain plot twist that, even back then, was already something that had been done to death.
