the difficulty with answering this question comes from the fact that so many adults never grow up. If a 30 year old person is dressing up as Luke are they really adult? More and more people are getting lost in fantasy.

Not at all. I consider them sci-fi fantasy adventure movies that are appropriate for all age groups.

Yeah, but that's not a bad thing. So are Close Encounters and Indiana Jones. Lots of great movies are.

I mean, not only is one more graphic than the other, you countered with an infamously dark movie parents boycotted and even some of its actors wouldn't let their children see. Anyway, here's another fun gif for the kiddos: ![](https://64.media.tumblr.com/63f914f5e3e28d05705a38375e6e53b1/tumblr_orh24lfWTk1r9y9vvo2_250.gif)

Let's take this a step further. How about Indiana Jones? Children certainly loved them (and still would, I'd wager), and yet they're violent and wildly morbid at times.

Definitely not 7-9, the most multi dimensional and best written scripts. They were too complex for children. Maybe not 4-6. They were too risk taking and mature. The 1-3 maybe, but they had a lot of sick propaganda.
What does "children's movies" mean? I'm guessing movies that don't have any character motivation and don't involve strategy, because kids aren't expected to understand such things. But these are almost always the movies with the most dangerous and divisive messages.

Even the creator George Lucas calls them children`s movies. And you know i think the creator of the movies would know what his target audience for the movies was.

The Phantom Menace I'd consider a kid's movie. I'd consider the OT boys'adventure movies.

I think "child-friendly" is the most accurate term.

Sometimes I think it could use more swearing.
"Why, you stuck-up half-witted scruffy-looking motherfucking nerf herder."
"Put Captain Solo in the fucking cargo hold.
"IT'S A FUCKING TRAP!"

As a whole I’d say no. Not that they can’t be watched and loved by children, but that’s not the same as being a children a movie.
