To me, the late 80's/early 90s was the best and it is all because of the sitcom named Perfect Strangers.
God bless you always!!!

No. I didn't watch much TV in the 80s, I was focused mainly on the movies.

TV is one of the rare art forms that has consistently gotten better each decade, in my opinion. The 90s were better than the 80s. The 2000s were better than the 90s. The 2010s were better than the 2000s. I’m really excited to see what the rest of the 2020s brings.

Crime, detective, courtroom and police procedural type shows exploded in the 80s and 90s with a lot of them still being popular today. There was also X-Files, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Quantum Leap, etc. I guess TV drama was elevated when cable stations such as HBO got more into the mix in the 00s.

I disagree.
I think the last 20 years have been the best for TV.

On May 9, 1961 sixty years ago, the newly appointed Federal Communications Commission – a guy with the great name of Newton Minow – gave his first speech while in office to the National Association of Broadcasters. His words still ring true to this very day. Nothing much has changed. I would be hard pressed to name a Best Decade as they all run together, but, if I had a gun to my head and had to pick one, it would definitely NOT be the 1980s. Maybe the recent decades mainly because of streaming opportunities and choice but that is pretty thin to pick by.
