8/10 Hilarious movie, where Terry Kiser is doing some fantastic slapstick comedy as the sleazy Bernie Lomax. Always a great summer comedy favorite, with a feel-good/idiotic plot lots of funny scenes, and also we get the stunning 80s babe Cathrine Mary Stewart. The sequel is not on the same level, but still worthy a watch, I give a 6/10.

7/10. Utterly dumb, but it kept me amused.

I can't fault it for its premise, when they invented that premise.

8/10.
It's one of those so-stupid-you-have-to-watch-it type of films. How I Met Your Mother (2005 - 2014) had an entire episode based around the plot in 2013.
The sequel on the other hand was...meh. The original should have been a standalone. The dead guy shtick was funny the first time around, but to think that they needed Bernie's corpse to locate treasure seemed idiotic, and not in a very humorous way. The company behind putting the sequel on DVD didn't even bother to make it widescreen.
But, I still love it for what it is. I'd gladly watch both of them again.

I love the two naive leads. Those guys were born to play those roles. Great performances all around. 8/10

Yeah, Jonathan Silverman did one hell of job here, as the sane person of the two main characters, while Andrew McCArthy is such a slimy bastard, and it works so well. My favorite part is when good ol Bernie is having all of his shallow "friends" over for a great all night party and nobody cares to even notice that something is not all right, all while his two young house guests just cannot believe what is going on.

6/10
It has an amusing concept and some decent laughs, but never becomes greater than average.
The sequel is one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

About as silly a film as I've seen but I gotta admit I enjoyed it.

Re-watched. C+
A good bad movie. I guess it's the last of its 1980's slapsticky comedy ilk. Re. the 2 leads, Silverman is quite annoying like an SNL castoff, & McCarthy seems a poor man's Michael J. Fox. Still, some classic laughs - dragging Bernie behind the boat always gets me.
