After the first movie being unexpectedly likable, funny and fun, hopefully the sequel will be as much fun.

I still haven’t seen the first one, but I’ve heard nothing but good things about it.

No Amy Rose? Furrys are gonna be pissed. I thought Rouge the Bat was the one with the big furry following?

Remember when one of the trailers for SONIC THE HEDGEHOG PART 1 came out and people thought GANGSTA'S PARADISE was a bad musical choice? Something similar has happened with SONIC THE HEDGEHOG PART 2. Oh, not the trailers; I mean the movie itself. Certain songs don't match their respective scenes in terms of tone and visuals. There's even the 1812 OVERTURE, which starts and ends with no rhyme or reason. Both movies are only occasionally entertaining and are weighed down by cringe-worthy pop culture references. This one plays with colors a lot more (as a result of adding more characters and objects from the lore) and it has more action sequences, but it doesn't earn its 122-minute running time and some of the conversations so generic that I was able to predict certain lines. Ben Schwartz continues to display charisma, but unlike the previous installment, he can't convey emotions like sadness, anger, fear, etc... James Marsden fails at this too. Their screams are so phony that I thought they were sarcastic. If I remember correctly, last time, Dr. Robotnik (the villain) would use popular expressions only from time to time. And he would do so with an ironic tone, as a way to express his disdain for people who talk that way. He thought his intellect made him a superior being. Here, everything he says is a form of slang and he clearly means every word. It's so annoying! A new antagonist is Knuckles the Echidna. I know him mainly thanks to the O.V.A. and the (awful) series SONIC X. He never left a strong impression. There didn't seem to be that much to him aside from being grumpy. Luckily, they did him justice in this movie. He's a badass! He's got some funny moments, but not in a way that diminishes his presence or that makes us forget his fighting skills. The only flaw is that his personality goes back and forth between "warrior from an archaic place with a formal and timeless vocabulary who gets confused at concepts from modern-day Earth" and "character who talks and behaves very similarly to Sonic and the others." There's a scene where Sonic goes to a bar in Siberia. He's worried because an important map is left on a table, and it's then taken by a waitress, and it's then found by a dancer... All I could think throughout this scene (even though other things were happening on screen at the same time) was "Why don't you use your super speed to grab it?!" There's a subplot where Tom & Maddie Wachowski (Sonic's owners/friends/parents (don't ask)) go to a wedding. Sonic gives them one of his magical rings so they can open a portal and return home. When Tom starts to play with one of the wedding rings, I immediately knew that a future scene would reveal an accidental swap between these golden objects (what a relief that the groom couldn't afford a ring with a diamond, eh?). Yep, that's exactly what happens, but the obvious surprise isn't the worst part. Tom interrupts the wedding and asks the bride and groom to hand him the ring. Look, he doesn't have to get into details. He doesn't have to explain how this mistake happened and he certainly doesn't have to reveal the secret of what this other one is capable of. He just has to show them the ring he has and hand it over to them. Then, they'll hand him the other one and problem solved. Oh, what's that? He speaks in the most vague way possible? And when that doesn't work, he punches the groom? I guess I should praise this characterization for accurately representing officers of the law in 2022. 4/10

It seems like you just hate modern movies. Like really a 4/10?

It seems like you just hate modern movies. OK, if you say so. What point do you disagree with?
