Cool stuff. Knew about SuperClash and the AWA vs. NWA. Never knew WWF and NWA worked together. WWF Champ - Bob Backlund and NWA Champ Ric Flair doing a promo together: Fast Forward to about 1 Hour and 44 Minutes: WWF and NWA Champ TogetherCheck out AWA and NWA Champ (Martel and Flair) together: Martel and FlairAny 'old school' cross promotional wars out there worth a mention? Never knew why some Indies and Promotions couldn't put egos aside more often and give the fans gems like this - guess it comes down to the old saying - everything in life is all about money. Classic stuff That being said -are there any cross promotional matches you would have loved to have seen? Me? Hogan Vs. Nikita Koloff - that pretty much have had been Rocky Vs. Drago in my eyes

Would have been fun to watch Nikita no-sell 98% of Hogan's offence, that's for sure.

Would have been fun to watch Nikita no-sell 98% of Hogan's offence, that's for sure. Would have been awesome. Remember how Drago killed Apollo? Clubber Lange destroyed Rock in the first fight. Shades of Lesnar running over Cena, Goldberg running over Lesnar, Khali running over 'Taker. Could have had Nikita come in and then just completely destroy Hogan like nobody's ever seen before - whole year of PPVs - Slam, Survivor Series, 'Mania, etc with Hogan and Koloff just going back and forth as Hogan eventually regains the strap. Nikita in my eyes - had one of the most intimidating looks to him mid/late 80s. Wonder why NWA never put the strap on him. if memory serves - Horseman may have been heels at the time (which they typically were). didn't Flair and Nikita have some promo feuds or even a match or two?

Koloff fought Flair in the Main Event of Starrcade 86, good match which ended in a no contest because both guys kept assaulting referees.
Koloff was a unique character: an intimidating Russian monster babyface.

I have that episode on dvd with the Flair and Backlund promos. Unfortunately they showed nothing on tv the following week from their match at the Omni. Backlund appeared in a few different territories as the wwf champ at that time. The WWf was sort of still an NWA member at that point. The NWA helped out the WWF when they ran into some financial trouble. But there were a few times when Nick Bockwinkel showed up in some NWA territories as well. The NWA/AWA collaboration was Pro wrestling USA. It lasted a couple of years. Verne tried to screw over Crockett so they pulled out after awhile. But it was cool while it lasted. They knew Vince was making a run to take over the world and this was their response to work together like that. There's full episodes up on youtube of Pro wrestling usa
Anyways here is the ICW/Memphis invasion angle. The poffo's territory. It started off real. ICW guys would challenge the memphis guys on tv and the memphis guys ignored them. Icw guys would show up at their shows to start crap. Memphis guys started bringing guns the shows. Then there was the incident where Savage Pistol whipped dundee in a parking lot. It was getting ugly. The Poffo's even stooped as low as booking a card with the memphis guys advertised on it and billed it as a charity event. So when the memphis guys didn't show up they accused them of not caring about the kids. In the end when ICW went in the crapper they all decided to work with the Poffo's. Here is there first appearance on Memphis TV

Then there's ofcourse this. Jerry Lawler invades the ECW arena. I think Cornette's appearance is edited out which is bullshit but at least it's better than nothing. not to turn this into an invasion angle thread, but I figured I'd throw this in there because it is a promotional war

I don't think I've seen those clips before. Pretty cool stuff. I'm only up to 1979 but I will get up to that period of Memphis eventually. '83 was like the best year there.
