Okay, stay with me here, because this is going to take a while..... So, many years ago (late 60s? early 70s?) I saw what I ASSUME was a movie (though maybe it was a TV movie, or possibly even an episode of a TV show, but I'm PRETTY sure it was a feature film), where the protagonist, at some point during the climactic 'big finish' towards the film's end, winds up at the top of what I seem to recall was a large, spinning, metal sculpture of some kind, possibly in an art museum (or something similar), where he pulls out his cigarette lighter, which he lights and holds up as the big spinning structure spins around, trying desperately to set off the building's sprinkler system with the heat from the flame of the lighter after making enough passes to finally get it to work. Why was he up there to begin with? I THINK he was trying to get away from, or disrupt in some way the "bad guys" who were after him, but I COULD be wrong about that......... I just have this lingering memory of him spinning around on that large metal structure, holding up that lit lighter until it eventually sets off all the sprinklers, and water starts cascading down from the ceiling, which then leads to.......well, of that I'm not sure, because I don't really remember what happened after that. Anybody remember a film/TV movie/TV show episode, where a guy ends up spinning around on top of a large structure of some kind, where he sets off the building's sprinkler system with his lighter ?? Trying to remember where that scene came from has been DRIVING ME NUTS for YEARS now !! SAVE FERRIS

only movie that comes to mind is Die Hard, but that doesn’t fit the time period.

No......like I said, it definitely goes back to at least the 70's, and possibly even the 60's.....and for a long time I could have SWORN that Dick Van Dyke was in it, but I've since gone back and reviewed the things he's been in, and now I'm pretty sure it probably was not him, up there on that spinning structure with the lit cigarette lighter trying to set off the building's sprinkler system...... Pretty sure it's not Jerry Van Dyke, but that was a good thought. Can't believe IMDb actually has a "sprinkler system" keyword......unfortunately that doesn't have it either, though....but thanks.... SAVE FERRIS

msdemosThat keyword area is bizarre ... such mundane things get listed there that it becomes comical. Would much prefer working "quotes" and "character" and linked lists that are actually usable but ....

msdemos - It's interesting that Penn Guinn should have mentioned Jerry Van Dyke, since what you describe sounds like a film with his brother, Dick: 1968's Never A Dull Moment, in which actor Van Dyke is mistaken for a notorious hitman by mob boss Edward G. Robinson, and recruited in an art museum heist. There was a climactic chase through the museum, during which Van Dyke takes refuge on a large, spinning mobile, if I recall. I don't specifically remember anything related to a lighter or fire sprinklers, but I saw the film only once some years ago.

I made a point of going through Van Dyke's filmography more than a few times, and can't believe, or hope to explain how I could have ever missed this.....
