I disagree with almost everything in your post Me too. Lately I've been reading some of the Vanguard novels set in the TOS era, along with doing some of my own artwork and such based in that same era - and most recently watching some of the fan productions set in the TOS era. And I find it's giving me a whole new appreciation of TOS. That era just rocks in a way that no subsequent iteration has. Everything is bright and colourful, there's a sense of adventure, and it's all just so cool. Nothing in sci fi has ever looked as cool as the TOS era ships do. The compound curves of the later ships are all very nice and all, but I find I don't connect with them because I can't really visualise them the way I can the cylinders and spheres of the TOS era. Screw Discovery, I'd dearly love to see another series set in or around the TOS era - and I mean actually properly set there, not just being "Star Trek in name only" the way Discovery is.

TOS will always be my favorite. I also dig the look they have of everything. I can still see believe it as the future. The only fan production I watched was the phase 2 thing. I haven't had a chance to watch that more recent one. I forget the name of it. And Star trek Farragut I watched. I really haven't read about that discovery show so I don't know much about it yet. I"m also a big fan of DS9.
