never say goodbye - you've got nothing - you made me realise – i believe – i need no trust – lose my breath – all i need – you never should – don’t ask why – to here knows when – only shallow – when you sleep – i only said – come in alone - blown a wish – what you want – she found now – who sees you – is this and yes – if i am – new you – nothing is

I like at least 3 of their first albums. Not sure if i would like their newest one. Well it was released after 1997 Sonically it's not that far removed from loveless, but it's structured more linearly

I hope you give Snail Mail a go. The second album arrived late last year during pandemic. Lindsey Jordan's from Maryland, home of Beach House.

I hadn't thought about that, but of course, you nailed it. Me and you are both massive Lush fans. My favourite song by My Bloody Valentine, who I also like, is 'Soon', the final track on 'Loveless'. It's one of those songs you can easily obsess over, like 'Halcyon' by Orbital which was released around the same time, I used to play it a lot.
I hope Snail Mail can reach a big audience. Lindsey Jordan's still very young, but immensely talented.

I gave Lush a listen. Nothing ground breaking, but nice solid indie pop. Love Beach House. Reminds me I need to give their new album a listen too.

Yes, that's "Soon", it appears as the first track on the Glider EP and the last track on Loveless. I heard it first on Glider and was commenting on how otherworldly it sounded, but it's followed by "Glider", the second track on the EP, which at the time I heard it I thought took that "otherworldly-ness" to another level.

I don't like this 3-minute version with a music video so much. It feels truncated.

There's an article I found online I think you might enjoy as it concerns My Bloody Valentine (and other bands). It's an interview from 2015 with filmmaker Gregg Araki that's been published online.
It's far from being the first time Araki has mentioned his interest in the musical subgenre known as "shoegaze", so thought I'd let you know. Araki has worked with many of the finest north American actresses to emerge in the last 30 years, whether by luck, or by design (I've no idea).

Thanks. Nice article. I've only seen a few of Gregg Araki films ( The Doom Generation, Nowhere, Mysterious Skin). He's certainly never hidden his love of shoegaze. It was great hearing those bands on the soundtracks. Was not even aware of White Bird in a Blizzard, actually sounds pretty good

How about the Warm Inventions, the group drummer Colm O Ciosoig plays in. They worked with Scottish guitarist Bert Jansch and I know you like a lot of Scottish bands.
'Charlotte' - Hope Sandoval And The Warm Inventions ft. Bert Jansch
I only recently discovered there was once a band called the Pretty Flowers who were in some way aligned with the Pastels. Members of the Pretty Flowers apparently went on to BMX Bandits, the Soup Dragons, Teenage Fanclub and the Vaselines. I don't know if the Pretty Flowers ever released a record.

Like The Warm Inventions, first aware of them due to Hope Sandoval's involvement. Probably heard the name Pretty Flowers before. All those bands did spring up from the same scene I guess, and I think still occasionally share members.
