A hard fought scrappy game just about edged by Villa. They had a couple of half chances, inclufing a header from Coutinho (would you believe) that Pickford easily tipped over the bar only to be undone from the resultant corner by a great header from Buendia. Most of the game has been a midfield battle. Coutinho has hardly fearured yet still suggests that he might pick Everton's pocket
H/T. Everton 0 Villa 1
Some objects were thrown at celebrating Villa players, after they scored.

Everton pressing very hard for an equaliser. They've seen a couple of headers just miss and Calvert-Lewin get the wrong toe on a 'cross from hell' delivered by the lively sub, Gordon. The pace is intensifying, as Duncan Ferguson musters his troops snd urges them in counter-attacks. I'm sure he's got a Claymore in his pocket as he cries 'FREEDOM' ..er, it might be 'REFEREE?'. Steve G takes off Coutinho, recognising the need for another defender. And now the hard working lone striker Watkins comes off.

Good old fashioned "English" type game. Give me this over the boring man City games any day.

Villa win it 1-0
Stevie G's decision to replace his more skilful players with defenders stopped the resurgence Everton were showing in the early minutes of the second half.
Not a great game for the purists but absorbing in its own way

They will get away with that as they are a Premiership side. we get slaughtered if it happens at our place. Certainly not excusing it, but these are empty plastic bottles by what I saw, bands at Reading festival get showered in ones full of piss and make a lot less fuss. Maybe the modern footballer should grow a pair.
