I miss the discussion boards on old IMDb. I thought it was really well done, though it deteriorated in the later seasons. They referenced real serial killers in their profiles, and I thought it was educational. What factors are involved in someone becoming a serial killer.

I never liked it ... too graphic and detailed for me.

Mine would be similar, though I stopped watching after Season 12. I have considered watching the last seasons, just to see how it all ended up, but having read reviews on those episodes on IMDb, I decided to pass. I've never found another crime show that was as interesting, except, perhaps, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (Vegas) and that was based more on science than psychology. Criminal Minds was one of a kind.

Same here, but I had hoped they would bring Thomas Gibson back, and have Spencer interact with Morgan and his son more. And there were other unsubs that could have had another episode, like they did with Profiling 101 and Profiling 202, the unsub Tommy Yates. Or that freaky kid who murdered mothers and the rest of the family, because his mother had treated him like he was evil all his life. Oh, well, such is life. I enjoyed it, and learned a lot from it, by watching the episodes I did.

I just watched "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" season 1... And I watched "Suspect behavior" years ago... Still annoyed "Suspect behavior" ended on a huge cliffhanger...
Still watch the original time to time... It's easy watching in the background and formulatic. But it does get a bit much with how messed up it is...
I'm surprised it's getting a reboot so soon...

I'm watching it for the first time, started at the beginning of the pandemic. I've taken a couple of breaks but started again. The show has good actors, the writing is above average for major networks. For me it went downhill when Gideon left although they were building him up a bit much near the end of his run. Rossi is okay. Penelope and Derek's sexual banter is too much, that would never have flown in the 90s, let alone the 2000s. Kirsten Vangsness isn't a very good actress though she does improve as time goes on, although it could be the characterization because major networks are terrible at doing nerds. I'm about at the point where most people agree it goes downhill so I might give up on it.

Yeah that is one thing i don`t like about the show, i would not have minded it if it was once in a while, but it was a bit too much as you said.

This is a classic example of a great show that ran for too long, perhaps twice as long as it should've. I remember the early seasons fondly, but the later seasons barely at all.

I was huge fan until Gideon left, then gave up on it entirely when Hotch was gone. I can't stand Joe Montegna*, and I didn't like the direction they were taking with Spencer. Morgan's GQ poses were wearing thin, too.
*I didn't mind him so much in Joan of Arcadia.

I mean the whole show is an consummate embodiment basically of sensationalized violence and shock and awe. I watched maybe a couple episodes and it was so gregariously over the top and lacked any subtlety at all. I fully get why certain actors quit as well.

But I don't think she isn't a very good actress, I think she isn't acting, and she really is just being herself. If you watch some of the behind-the-scenes clips, she's pretty 'out there'. I was part of the "No Hotch, No Watch" group, but eventually, via DVD, have watched up to season thirteen. What made this show great in the beginning, the concept of behavioral analysis, and how serial killers get made, was its strong point. Later shows presented increasingly over-the-top genius bad guys actually targeting the unit, and that seemed a bit unrealistic. Some episodes were so far-fetched that I would watch them only once. What I did like for most of its run was the supportive work atmosphere of the unit, almost like family. At the time I was working for a company with Draconian rules and a toxic atmosphere, and I quietly wished that I worked in the BAU, even though they had a tough job.

My ranking of the characters in Criminal Minds from favorite to least favorite (To be fair i did not hate any of the characters. I liked them all but some more than others)
Spencer Reid Derek Morgan Aaron Hotchner Jennifer ‘JJ’ Jereau David Rossi Jason Gideon Emily Prentiss Elle Greenaway Luke Alvez Alex Blake Tara Lewis Matt Simmons Ashley Seaver Kate Callahan Stephen Walker Penelope Garcia
I know people will disagree with my personal ranking of the characters.
I was a bit disappointed by the ending, i wanted them to die in a plane crash, i knew that would never happen, but that is how i wanted the show to end, tragically.

I would re-arrange them just a bit, perhaps, but it's a good ranking I think. I liked Alex Blake a lot since she had such a bond with Reid, and I wish Ashley Seaver's character had been explored more... how do the children of these monsters deal with it? I have mixed feelings about Gideon, since twice his actions put others in harm's way (Elle and Reid) but he was passionate about what he did.

Decided to start watching it from the beginning! 😆 Penelope is too much... I've never actually watched it the whole way through. But there are several episodes I remember seeing.

Oh, he definitely deserves it, but too much of a good thing… He turned into a cliched parody of himself in this show.
