There are many winter/snow movies- but relatively few about snowstorms. A snowstorm is a rapid accumulation of a massive amount of snow.
Nature "threat" movies tend to use fire, flooding, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, volcanos, etc. Snowstorms don't make for good action. The accumulation is slow, nothing moves fast, actions are hard to make when smothered and visibility is reduced anyway. The closest thing to snow based drama comes from avalanches.
But snowstorms can be very deadly. The current storm hitting parts of the US will bring dangerous ice on roads, power lines, etc. This will be followed by heavy snow that will collapse roofs, strand vehicles, stop emergency help. Then deep cold will freeze many in their blacked out homes and stuck cars.
But most of this is slow moving and rarely the focus of films compared to other natural disasters (I write this listening to the soft crackle outside as ice keeps building on my house).
Today is definitely a stay indoors and watch movies day.

Two things I've always wanted to see done in a mystery/thriller/horror movie to really build the atmosphere. A whiteout blizzard where the snow is sticking to the windows and you literally can't see out. And...instead of the usual blizzard, an ice storm. Imagine being trapped in a house with a killer and one step off the porch could break your neck, FORGET getting to the car.

I mean this was set in Antarctica.

Survive! and Alive, both movies based on the same true story, deal with trying to survive in blizzard-like conditions.

The Day After Tomorrow (2004) That one popped into my mind too, and I could list about a half dozen films that are similar... But, I think the OP, is talking about major yearly type snowstorms that we all face each year... not end of the world disaster type films that no one has dealt with for 1000s of years. Yeah, I have to agree with the OP... I really can't think of any films, that feature the main characters having to deal with snowstorms that have to keep them housebound for just several days and having to dig themselves out a week later.

In The Hateful Eight, the characters are trapped in a haberdashery together because of a blizzard.

A musical of sorts set in Winnipeg during the Great Depression, where a beer baroness organizes a contest to find the saddest music in the world. Musicians from around the world descend on the city to try and win the $25,000 prize. www.imdb.com/title/tt0366996/referenceKeywords: Blizzard and Ice Storm

I have to disagree with that one... They were staying at the Overlook Hotel during the entire winter season, and snowstorms were quite common... Jack even asks about why the hotel was closed, when he thought business would be good due to all the skiers in the area... The owner mentions that travel in and out of the area is nearly impossible during the winter. Hence, all the snow... That's why they had a snowcat was in the garage. The movie was about Cabin Fever... Not a family being trapped there, because of a snowstorm... And at the end of the film, the other snowcat is used to get to the hotel and leave the hotel without any problem. If Jack hadn't sabotaged the hotel's snowcat, Wendy could have left with Danny whenever they wanted.

Eye See You aka D-Tox occurs in a rehab center during a snowstorm. The killer stalks around knocking people off because no one can leave. It’s been awhile since i saw it so I could be off on the plot but i remember a snowstorm and people being stuck in the rehab center because of the snow.
