Probably a quick solve. I’ve been quoting the line “Touché, distinctly touché” for years, yet I can’t remember where it’s from! I always thought it was from Sleuth (1972)—I know, that’s what we need, another Sleuth mystery—but I found an online copy of the script and it wasn’t there. I have a feeling it’s from some sort of mystery movie, even if not Sleuth. Anyone know? Google comes back with one of my posts here.

Ah yes, Jar Jar Binks, exactly the character who’d say something like “Touché, distinctly touché.”

sounds like it could from one of those innumerable sword fighting movies ...
but I guess your inner ear does not hear it said by Basil Rathbone so that is out.

My inner ear did have Olivier… But now I really don’t know. Of course touché is from fencing, but the distinctly part is what made me remember it.

Now if the middle word were definitely rather than distinctly, Catman would say it sounds like something Runt might have said in the 'Les Miseranimals' episode of Animaniacs.
