Director Steven Soderburgh has done a 'butcher's cut' of Heaven's Gate, reducing Cimino's lumbering epic down to a more manageable 108 minutes. It can be seen here: extension765.com/soderblogh/16-heavens-gate-the-butchers-cut Says he: This is the first fan edit I have seen (of a western at least), and given the vexed nature of Cimino's film, it is worth a look. Soderburgh has also done a reworking of Raiders of the Lost Ark turning it into a silent black and white movie for the educational purpose of examining the staging free from distraction, as well as a mash-up of the two Psychos.

It's definitely worth a look. The cut is exactly what Soderbergh says it is: Butcher's Cut. It was cut by a fan of the movie for purposes of education and having some fun so we can forgive him his "butchering" of the great Michael Cimino's Heaven's Gate.

He's also done mash-ups of the four Caine-Harry Palmer films, which are worth watching.
