This invasion gives Xi confidence to take Taiwan. Ultimately, CCP could come out the winner. I hope I am wrong.

Pakistan's PM statement that "It is exciting times to be in Russia" should be read more deeply than it has been so far.
Ukraine supported Pakistan over India on Kashmir issue in past in the UN.
Ukraine had voted against India on many things in past.
India has had good relations with Russia forever.
Pakistan much like Ukraine has been getting arms from NATO countries for a long time.
Pakistan receives huge amount of wealth from NATO countries which facilitates their terrorist activities.
Yet all of a sudden Pakistan goes against America and supports Russia. So what is happening here? Why suddenly are we seeing shift of stance in world politics? My opinion is that Pakistan has relied on US for a long long time. Now after many years, even US understood that Pakistan is no good because they are incapable of controlling their Islamic extremists. US has decreased their support to Pakistan in recent years (thankfully). But Pakistan has fully realized that now (that US is giving them smaller support now compared to past) and instead of US now Pakistan sees China as their masters. So this sudden support for Russia seems more of a strategy by Pakistan aimed at pleasing China than Russia.
So what we have got? NATO countries along with liberal countries standing on one side vs CHINA+Russia on the other side.
I think India's relations are getting better with USA but still Russia has been a good friend for long. But both Pakistan and China are massive problem for India. So I think at this moment India is going to maintain a total indifference in this conflict.
As for US and liberal countries - Let's see how much they can hurt Russia. It definitely seems that Russia+China is trying their best to negate the influence of western world. Russia totally not caring for all threats by US is indicating that there is a hope of building a new front which will not like to be dominated by the western world. I hope India stays neutral and away from both NATO and the new CHINA+Russia fraction.

The China/Russia relationship is about as strong as the one between Hitler and Stalin. Who will invade the other first?

In terms of the Ukraine: Russia. They outmatch the Ukrainian military substantially. No one is sending military aid to the Ukraine. Russia will have over run it within the month if not the week.
In the longer term I can't see these trade sanctions achieving anything while they are still supported by China. And when I say supported I mean more like a dependency.
So, in terms of this skirmish: Russia. US aren't doing anything so why would that stop them?

Keep it that way. As for Pakistan, aren't they China's Belt & Road bitch through Asia? That's a fun debt to owe. I think this is not a sports thread.
