No Way. His face is annoying, I don't think he's a good actor, and he certainly doesn't have the comic chops.

I like him a lot, but at most he's ED1 Ash, not "Hail to the king" Ash.

What? No. Just no. Bruce is irreplaceable as Ash.

Well, this is the first I'm hearing of such a thing. Is this the same thing from the mid-2000s I'm seeing plastered across YouTube? If so, I agree. That guy's pretty great! But as far as another guy playing Ash in an actual movie? Hard pass.

Yeah probably. I saw it in 2006, I think. I'm sure the cast album is on YouTube, but I wasn't aware of any footage from the actual show being up there. It was great though. Tons of fun in the theater, and if you sat in the first 5 or 6 rows they sprayed blood all over you. I would have been very happy if they made a movie of the musical with that cast. The actor who played Ash never really did much else after that, but he was great. If they did another season of Ash Vs The Evil Dead and they did some time warp (the EVil Dead musical name checks that sonf from Rocky Horror) storyline or something, I'd love it if they found him and had him play the young version if Ash. It would be a fun nod to the musical, and he would definitely pull it off.

It looks a little hokey in this performance, which of course it is, but that guy's performance was really great, and the bloodbath ensued after that song was tremendous.

Well, I think musicals are kind of hokey by nature, so he fits right in! Yes, many, not all, are. But so is Evil Dead 2, which is the primary basis for the show. So it's all very silly and fun in a way that feels perfectly fitting the movies. I've heard the songs, but I haven't seen any footage of the show at all in years. Thanks for finding that!
