For many film buffs, it's one of the greatest vampire movies with Schreck's vampire being one of the very best. Leonard Maltin Movie Guide Review: Nosferatu (1922) - 3.5 out of 4 stars
"Early film version of Dracula is brilliantly eerie, full of imaginative touches that none of the later films quite recaptured. Schreck's vampire is also the ugliest in film history. The making of the film is dramatized in SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE. Remade in 1979."

Didn’t really care for it. I liked the remake better.

As a kid, it freaked me out in a good way. I seemed to always see this playing late on Halloween tv, a la Christmas Carol every Dec 24th... as if somehow definitive.

The movie was on a circuit a few years ago and played at the last theatre in my area with a full-size screen. Unfortunately, the subtitles were in German. However, I've seen it so many times, I didn't need the translation. And it was a treat watching it on that gigantic screen.
A real shame there is no longer anyone alive who worked on it now that we have digital technology that would allow us to hear them discuss it on disc.
