I almost fell asleep when I tried watching Star Wars. Never watched it again. Completely mindless crap written by a complete idiot. There are no thoughts in any of the movies, just funny people fighting for the whole running time. There is a bad black guy who wants to rule everything and a group of good people who want to stop him. The plot was written by a 3 years old retard. The fact that there are so many imbeciles who like it is really scary. Earth is populated by idiots.

I tried watching Star Wars (1977) on July 29th 2015 and could not finished it due to boredom. killed it @ 1hr.
it's one of the most overrated movies on history to say the least.

if you refer to the 1977 movie (Ep IV), yeah as a narrative it has aged badly, it's very naive and cheesy. The character are cardboard stereotypes, the pacing sluggish.
And still it is one of the historically most influential movies ever, changing the movie landscape forever, and featuring unprecedented imagination and production values (including music).
And this is the reason why it was copied and ripped off countless times; lately even within the franchise with Ep VII The Force Awakens. If you hated the original, the rehash will make your head explode.

I like the series, but I don't love it since I'm not from a movie/arts type of family meaning I didn't get much exposure to it growing up. However A New Hope is my personal favorite.

I used to like it when I was a kid but then grew out of it. The Force Awakens was so terrible, it actually makes me kinda angry thinking about it haha.

And I enjoy that story. I find it an interesting tale of faith and family. Pretty much a serialized soap opera, but that was what the story was supposed to be all along. Throw out your kind words of "idiot, retard, imbeciles" all you want. It won't change anything.

I like the original trilogy (if for nothing else than the score), but I think with movies like this, it is important to remember that some of the tropes they created have been replicated to death. I think sometimes it is easy to forget how influential these movies have been, especially when we've seen modern stories do some of these elements better, or in a tongue-in-cheek manner. James Cameron's "Aliens" comes up a lot on this board and is a reasonable comparison to what I'm trying to get across. I don't have enough fingers and toes for counting movies that borrowed more than a handful from "Aliens"...which can sometimes cheapen the original story they borrowed from.
Not saying everyone's gotta like everything, just that "Star Wars" was pretty revolutionary for its time (Flash Gordon might disagree with me) and has been imitated so much since its release...which might have lessened its impact in the long run.
All that said, "A New Hope" is littered with bad dialogue and questionable plot elements. "Empire" and even "Jedi" are a little better put together in my opinion. They aren't my favorite movies (not even close), but I'd be happy with myself if I made them.
Plus, Chewbacca. He rules.

I think that many people don't know, or tend to forget, that this was an homage to the olde timey Saturday Matinee serials. It's supposed to be corny and over the top and full of coincidences and overly amazingly good (or evil) heroes and villains.
Maybe you really have to be familiar with what went before to "get " what these first three pictures were doing. The rest were just expanding the $$$ aspect, as far as I can see.
All that is WHY the first trilogy works and the later ones don't. The homage aspect has been totally lost and they take themselves way too seriously.

I am surprised that I actually tried to stay awake while watch Star Wars A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, especially during the space battle scenes. They felt long and boring and the music isn't helping either- for some reason the image of an orchestra playing pops up when the soundtrack gets loud.
