Gearin' up for 2nd Round Action and I'm a little miffed - Wimbledon all day on ESPN is awesome but - Why aren't other matches being played on The Tennis Network? A shame they didn't partner with ESPN - on right now is 'ATP Encore: 2022 Melbourne, Singles Final' and then at 8am - 'ATP Encore: 2022 ATP Cup - Group Stage USA vs. CAN' - who in their right mind would be watching this when Wimbledon is on? I guess it gives you an option in case of a rain delay.

Angelique Kerber defeated Kristina Mladenovic of France in her first round match, 6-0 / 7-5, entering this year's Wimbledon tournament with a bagel.
Today, Kerber overcame Magda Linette of Poland in the second round, 6-3 / 6-3, to advance to the third round.
Go Go Angelique!!

Raducanu out already. Humped in 2nd round.
A valiant effort under pressure. Hopefully she can build strength in the coming years and become more consistent as she has a fine repertoire of shots. Attain consistency of coaching too, perhaps, and steady the nerves.

Raducanu out already. Humped in 2nd round. That's a shame...
Fourteen of the seeded women (four of the top 10) are already out. Among the men, it's eight (ten if you count the two who were forced to withdraw because of a positive COVID test).

Awesome news American Jessica Pegula has advanced
Pegula is reportedly tennis' richest heiress - she's even richer than Fed, Nadal, Joker.....

Boulter is cute. Glad she beat Pliskova. UK players doing well. Watching her play while Wozniacki was doing commentary, ahh.
Swiatek had a tough time. Nadal was stretched to 4 sets. Tan won in 2.
Tsitsipas is a cliff diver.

On paper, Angelique Kerber and Elise Mertens were destined to provide tennis fans with a close encounter of the nerve-shredding kind, and that's exactly how their game today played out.
Kerber came with a little more experience, while Mertens had youth on her side. Mertens had the edge on her opponent psychologically, having defeated Kerber in the semi-final of the Qatar Open in 2019 in 3 sets. Similarly ranked at the moment, Kerber and Mertens have won the same 3 Grand Slam titles in singles and doubles respectively; the Australian, U.S. and Wimbledon crowns.
Expert technicians, these two chess players matched each other in a game of wits today, as well as in some key statistical categories. They both had their chances, breaking back and forth, but Mertens had the better all-around game and came good in the crunch moments, to claim a hard-fought victory, 6-4 / 7-5.
Congratulations!

World number one Iga Swiatek saw her 37-match winning streak ended as France's Alize Cornet caused one of the biggest upsets so far at Wimbledon. The 21-year-old from Poland was beaten 6-4 6-2 in an inspired performance by 37th-ranked Cornet. Cornet, 32, kept her composure to streak towards a famous victory. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/62022348
