Identical twins sometimes stay together even though they long to be apart. Scientific studies in to twin psychology simply enhance the mystery of identical twins. Psychology does provide twins with tips and practises in order to separate, but that's only half the story. I believe identical twins are connected, and so do some twins.

Why do parents tend to dress their identical twin children in identical outfits? I've always thought identical twins would enjoy having more of a variety which they could share, rather than having two sets of the same clothes.

Some twins play on the fact they can't be told apart, though a discerning ear and eye can often tell the difference.

My youngest brother and sister were twins (the brother’s dead) but not only were they different genders they also looked nothing like each other. I also knew triplets (two girls one boy) and even though they didn’t look the same they wanted to be in separate classes when they moved up to secondary school simply because they had spent their whole lives being The Triplets. Perhaps it’s us who want identical twins to be exactly the same.

I was friends with triplet girls when I was young. They spoke in their own language sometimes, they told me it was devised during childhood.

There was an extreme example of that with June and Jennifer Gibbons.

![](https://tse2.mm.bing.net/th?id=OIP.3ZzD-6CJTv-lsLEbh2faGgHaEH&pid=Api&P=0&w=352&h=196) In 1987, at the age of six months, the twins were cast in the role of Michelle Tanner on the ABC sitcom Full House. They began filming at nine months old. In order to comply with child labor laws that set strict limits on how long a child actor may work, the sisters took turns playing the role. The Olsens continued to portray Michelle throughout the show's run, which concluded in 1995. Wrongly identified on a search as "identical" ... they are listed on wiki as fraternal twins but look enough alike to interchangeably play the same character

I learnt more about communications between twins through Jean-Pierre Gorin's documentary 'Poto And Cabengo' (1978).
