Watched this last night for the first time. Predates the original Halloween by four years, essentially being the genesis of the slasher genre. I had no idea Keir Dullea stars in this. Dave really should have taken a stress pill this time around. I'm amazed at the complete lack of backstory or any context as to why Billy is killing those sorority girls. We also get John Saxon a full decade before playing Nancy Thompson's dad. The movie is also surprisingly bloodless, with the violence often implied. Jess is pretty cute, especially in her 1970s fashion sense.

I've seen it probably four times, I like it but I think i'm done with it, last viewing it had lost a bit of its lustre

I've seen it 3 times but didn't really appreciate it until the 3rd watch. I absolutely love it now.

I have only seen the 2006 remake, which was not good.

I think it's a pretty good slasher. Really enjoy Margot Kidder in it.
The original Texas Chain Saw Massacre was also released the same year and I'd say that along with Black Christmas helped pave the way for the slasher genre to really take off in the next few years.

Pretty good example of its genre.

A Christmas tradition of mine; I watch it every December.

A classic of the slasher genre. I still think Halloween did the stalker slasher thing better but still deserves some credit as being one of the first of its kind with a creepy December atmosphere and mysterious antagonist.

The 2 remakes sucked.

Remember finding this a bit dull. Also I was expecting it to take place in the house entirely.
