Rank all four Ghostbusters movies in your order of preference. My rank:
1. Ghostbusters (1984)/Ghostbusters II (tie) 2. Ghostbusters: Afterlife 3. Ghostbusters (2016)
I usually don't do ties when I rank film series, but I make a strong exception with the first two Ghostbusters movies. Both movies have been near and dear to me since childhood and I've seen both endlessly and never watch one without the other. They don't feel like seperate films to me, just a two-parter. I enjoyed Afterlife despite how deriative it is of the first movie and needing some script polish. It was flawed but still entertaining and it works as an emotional bookend to the first two and the OG Ghostbusters.
The 2016 movie I'm totally indifferent to. Saw it once and that was more than enough. I didn't dislike it nor like it, it was just one of those movies that's there and that's that.

Ghostbusters - 8/10 Ghostbusters: Afterlife - 7/10 Ghostbusters II - 7/10 Ghostbusters (2016) - 5/10
Only ranking Afterlife ahead of II simply for the fact that it's more fresh in my mind. They are pretty much tied ATM.

1. Ghostbusters - 9/10 2. Ghostbusters II - 8/10 3. Ghostbusters: Afterlife - 2/10 4. Ghostbusters (2016) -2/10 What is your reason for not liking Afterlife and having it on the same level as the remake?

First two are all that matter. The video game is the real Ghostbusters 3 with the Real Ghosbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters cartoons being good supplements. 2016 is an abomination and Afterlife is a poor nostalgia baiting fest. Hollywood doesn’t know what to do with Ghostbusters and should just give it up now and leave it to either video game developers and TV writers

The upcoming Spirits Unleashed video game looks like it'll be really good and a worthy successor to the video game. I too still consider the video game the real GB3 and it had that authenticity to it.

1. Ghostbusters - 9/10 2. Ghostbusters II - 8/10 3. Ghostbusters: Afterlife - 2/10 4. Ghostbusters (2016) -2/10 What is your reason for not liking Afterlife and having it on the same level as the remake? I felt nothing for Afterlife. I felt like I was watching a generic kids ghost adventure film. Something I could find at the dollar store just with better CGI. Most of the film was just the kids discovering stuff the audience already knows about. It was dull. Plus I was hoping we would get more of the original Ghostbusters. I knew they were not the main focus of the film but I was hoping more than a minute cameo at the end. By then I stopped caring about the film altogether. The only scenes I liked were the two during and after the the end credits. I just did not care at all about the kids and the teacher. Plus for the most part I felt it lacked ghosts and any excitement. And by the time we got to the villains they were just the same as the first film. It just felt like one huge wasted opportunity. However I still liked it better (not by much) than the '16 film because as much as I did not like Afterlife it was not as annoying as Ghostbusters '16. Most of that film was just crazy annoying banter.

Ghostbusters I: 8/10 stars Ghostbusters II 7/10 stars
Ghostbusters 2 got dumped on unfairly by critics and fans alike in the past. Calling it a weak sequel, but I would call it underrated. Especially in this era of worn out reboots and remakes and sequels. Maybe in the 80's when there was so much stiff competition it was mediocre, but I would say it appreciated with age.

I'm glad to see the relatively decent reception GB2 is getting here. People are so quick to rag on it, but I've always really enjoyed it. I've got a big nostalgic affinity for it, I admit, but just like the original it's held up very well over the years and is so infinitely enjoyable and rewatchable.

I enjoyed Afterlife a lot. Maybe a little more than GB2. Maybe equally. They're both very good. 2016 is a rough go though.

If I were to rate them each:
Ghostbusters (1984) - 10/10 GB2 - 10/10 Ghostbusters (2016) - 5/10 Afterlife - 8/10
A 6 or 7 is probably closer to Afterlife but the ending sequence helps bump it up an additional point or two for me. Flawed film but the ending hit me hard as a lifelong fan.
