in terms of legacy sequels, this is actually one of the best I would say. The high school reunion setting is the perfect setting, the movie stays true to the characters in the original films, and finishes out all their arcs. The writers/directors are Jon Hurwitz/Hayden Schlossberg who went on to make Cobra Kai. The way they treat Johnny in that show is similar to how they do Stifler here. Taking the same character and transporting him to a new time and let him remain the same despite how the world around him as changed. Honestly, if you want to make any legacy sequel, hire these guys

Pretty good but not the best in the series. I wonder if there'll be another reunion film now that it's been 10 years since this.

The American Pie movies were dried up by the time this came out…but I did enjoy seeing his neighbors boobs. She was smokin.

I enjoy all 4 of the main series. Never seen any of the spinoffs though.

I noticed the similarities with Cobra Kai as well, although I think they handled the same ideas better in that.
I was a big AP fan as a kid but this didn't do much for me. A lot of characters went through the exact same stories (Stifler, Kevin) or completely random ones (Oz on Dancing With the Stars? what?), and there weren't any particularly hilarious moments. I actually think they would have done better to get the guy who wrote the first three back. You could sort of feel his absense, at times this felt like fanfiction.
