this movie was panned by critics and has only a 4.8 rating on IMDB. Siskel and Ebert disagreed giving this an enthusiastic recommendation and so did audiences who made this a box office hit. Siskel/Ebert/audiences were right! This is a totally fun creature feature and Jon Voight's villain is probably one of the greatest and most iconic screen villains of all time. I am dead fucking serious. The film has a surprisingly good cast overall and strong production values with beautiful rainforest cinematography from Bill Butler (Jaws) and a great score by Randy Edelman. The biggest issue are the special effects which are terrible though for me that is not a bad thing because I am totally afraid of snakes and whenever I even saw the cover of this movie in shops as a kid I got horrible anxiety. Watching it when older and seeing how horribly fake the snake looks is very amusing.

When I was a kid, I liked it.
I don't care much about it know although I think John Voight makes for an entertaining villain.

The cgi is good for 1997.

I guess they couldn't decide on a tagline, so they took the two finalists.

Love it. It’s like Heart of Darkness written by a crackhead. And Jon Voight deserved an Oscar nomination for his performance.

A little fact about the green anaconda is that there isn't a single recorded case of a green Anaconda feeding on a human.

They should have gotten Anthony Hopkins instead of Voight, just have him basically play Hannibal Lector

I thought it was decent. Jon Voight was awesome and it's cheesy fun for the most part. Part of what held it back for me was that I found myself rooting for Voight and the snake.

I guess they couldn't decide on a tagline, so they took the two finalists. One for above the title, and another after the title. I'm not ashamed to say I liked this.

It's a passable animal monster movie with a fun performance from Jon Voight but not that great. It is better than what some people say though.
