Howard the duck? It was terrifying. (I'm saying out of films aimed at young kids)
If I even saw that duck again. I might be scared too. All I know is, I guess some parts were intended to be scary. Many scenes that weren't intended to be that way still were scary.

That...is actually not a bad contender. I would also say Son of the Mask with its (unintentionally) horrific CGI.

I always thought Jumanji was a horror movie, when the rhinos and giant insects, etc., come out of the board and storm the house, that was terrifying to me.

Do serious posters here think that Howard the Duck was "aimed at kids" of the age who would be afraid of a giant sarcastic duck from a parallel universe ? "The film begins with Howard the Duck (voiced by Chip Zien), who lives in a parallel universe inhabited by anthropomorphic ducks. Howard spends his days smoking, drinking and reading the latest issue of Playduck." Link to plot summary: www.imdb.com/title/tt0091225/plotsummary?ref_=tt_ql_2

I used to read the comic-book, back in the day. Loved Steve Gerber's left of centre angles juxtaposed with the legendary Gene Colan's art. Never thought one jot it was aimed at children, or scary. I avoided the movie as am not bonkers about blokes in pre cgi , rubber get-ups....but I would be surprised if it was aimed at kids.

GREMLINS was aimed at young kids ..
Gremlin books were given with McDonald's Kids meals ... it was TOO scary for kid's meal aged kids.
Howard the Duck was not promoted as a "kids movie" and is listed as PG.

Possibly THE most often mentioned "scary creature" in a "kids" movie Cited more often than the Wicked Witch herself !

Many a frightened child was removed from the theater while the Monstro Scene played itself out (back when movies were still shown on HUGE screens and not watched at home from the safety of an armchair or sofa !)

I forgot, that this isn't actually aimed at kids or anything. Because I haven't seen it for like 20 40 60 years.
