7/10. It's very well made in terms of the visual effects and production design. And the cast is very good. But it does feel like the first half of a book that just ends. And I'm not sure if it's the movie or the copy I watched, but the lighting was so dark in parts it was nearly unwatchable. So that dragged the rating down for me tbh. But I am interested to see what Denis Villeneuve does for Part Two.

Agree w politicidal but it's an 8 due to outstanding visual effects, cgi, design. Not impressed by the color grading or the soundtrack.
David Lynch's Dune was much better in terms of a fantasy take, as opposed to a realist take which this one is; Lynch's had better lighting, costumes, over-the-top villainy, and great soundtrack. Otoh the story is easier to follow in this one.

8/10. It's only half of a much larger story, but it excels in production design, cinematography, and visual effects.
