They all die pretty quickly. It’s quite silly to me to complain that “wokeness” is why Monica lasts 10 seconds against Wanda as opposed to Reed lasting 2 seconds. Not sure how Reed could’ve used his powers to fight her anyway. I submit again that it’s clearly a case of not wanting to display them on screen until his own movie. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about this scene. In fact I specifically said I liked it. That said, let's at least be honest enough to admit that the two women were obviously treated with far more respect in this scene than the two men were. Even critics have noted this. I don't think that makes it "woke" exactly, but it's still some pretty shitty writing These 'critics' (Anyone and everyone is one these days. Sooner or later they'll be using our comments as blurbs in commercials) are trying too hard to find something that isn't there, like the guy who took us down this road in the first place. I think it was written this way because Black Bolt is too powerful and Reed's powers are funky. They needed to get rid of them both quickly for these reasons. Captain Carter and even Captain Marvel's powers are both basically physical or energy projection; easy to script/film an action sequence without getting too technical. Xavier was the last one standing because his character has the most gravitas and again is simple to storyboard. The only agenda at play in this scene was getting rid of the strongest character (Black Bolt) and not tipping their hand with Reed, a character MCU audiences have been dying to see in action for years.

I mean, the movie probably had at least a half-dozen uncredited screenwriters and script doctors, but yeah, I noticed the same thing: The guy who gets the writing credit has only ever done TV before. Such a weird choice. what's really sad is they can easily afford better The MCU has had a bad habit of hiring writers/directors who are woefully underqualified to handle these kind of big-budget blockbusters ever since phase 2, but lately it's been getting worse. Every now and then they'll find a diamond in the rough (like they did with the Russo's) but recently I'd say majority of their less-experienced directors/writers have failed to deliver top-quality products.

I hope my boy Raimi comes back for the third Doctor Strange. And hopefully they remove the shared universe shackles and just let him build his own stand alone Strange story from the ground up. And definitely DEFINITELY get him a better screenwriter to work with!

Saw it again this afternoon. Spur of the moment. This one really gets better on rewatches once your expectations are in check. It’s not a classic, but I thoroughly dug it this time. Raiminess conquers all. Also, funny story: there was a power surge across the city today and the lights in the theater flicked back on when Scarlet Witchy Woman was attacking. It freaked me out.

I can see that. I'll likely pick up the blu. My expectations weren't even let down in so much as they just never panned - the movie didn't drop the ball necessarily, it just never went where I thought this would for Phase 4.

It's a bit of a throwaway scene, but I love the flashback of the Illuminati dealing with their Dr. Strange. I'm almost sad they used it here because that could've been a powerful scene at the end of a darker, more dramatic movie. "I'm sorry." Hoping we get a legitimate take of the Inhumans someday. I thought that was a powerful scene as well.
What do you think was so awful about "Inhumans?" I watched it all and while I thought it started slow, (and would have been rather more unhappy had I paid to see the beginning in the theater like some did), I thought by the end it was fairly decent. Nothing special, but not 'worst-thing-ever' which it appears it achieved to the extent they drummed it out of the MCU entirely. I liked Ken Lueng's character especially and the girl running around trying to help them I found interesting as well. Maybe I need to watch it again, I've not watched it since it premiered.

Everything about Inhumans was terrible. I didn't even watch it because the trailers made it look unwatchable, and that was a wise choice. Apparently one of the first things they did was shave Medusa's head, because the showrunner had no idea how to use the character. This is what happens when you hand the reins to people with no familiarity or interest in the source material or how fans connect with it. It's the same reason She-Hulk looks terrible, for that matter. Inhumans showrunner Scott Buck was also responsible for the worst of the Netflix shows, Iron Fist. That isn't a coincidence.

Scott Buck did those shows?! Shit. No wonder! He’s the idiot that ruined Dexter.

I didn't think "Iron Fist" was the worst of the Netflix shows, I just re-watched it recently and liked it just as much as I did the first time around. I found the 'stranger in a strange land' theme for Danny Rand interesting and the supporting cast of the Meachums, Davos, Colleen Wing etc superior to all but Daredevil's secondary characters.

Season 1 of Iron Fist works better for me if I think of the Meachums as the main characters. Finn Jones got a lot of criticism, but I don't think it was his fault. The writing was weak, and they were apparently going over the fight choreography on the day of shooting or something, it's nuts. Out of curiosity, which Netflix show do you think was the worst?

That's a tough question, as I didn't think any of them were bad, and I enjoyed the portrayal of all the main characters. My last time through I didn't find "Jessica Jones" as good as I had remembered, so perhaps that was it.

Loved it because of Raimi. Also liked the Raimi Easter eggs (Brice Campbell, the Delta 88, and the Xena statue).
The only thing missing was a Ted Raimi cameo....

Feige tried to stop the Raiminess? What an asshole! Thankfully Raimi prevailed!
