Paramount was among the companies that didn't do the credits on the front cover thing. What I remember, each company had a different font for the title, either on the side or on top. Orion had a barcode on the right side. Columbia/TriStar would often have different characters on each side.
Of course, I'm going by memory, and my family didn't get a VCR until 1985-86.

Paramount did do the front credits in the beginning, if several vintage VHS evident. The Columbia VHS had the red trims and the full plot synopsis. MGM/UA had the big silver book case with the full cast credits on the inner “page”. Warner and Disneyhad the Clamshells. Of the front covers, the Studios were mixed; sometimes they would show the actual poster; other times it would be a still photo.
