Actors playing characters once again that they haven't played in many years. Sure seems like it for the biggest trend.

Actors reprising roles after many years is certainly not unheard of, but right now I don't think I've ever seen it done in such a large capacity.

I'm not complaining, but it's just a noticeable trend for movies/TV in Hollywood right now.

Tom Cruise - Top Gun: Maverick

Jennifer Grey - Upcoming Dirty Dancing Sequel

Ewan MacGregor - Obi-Wan Kenobi TV Show

Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson - Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill, Laura Dern - Jurassic World: Dominion

Rob Reiner, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, Harry Shearer - Spinal Tap II

Basically all the Star Trek: The Next Generation cast - Star Trek: Picard - Season 3

Michael Keaton as Batman - The Flash

Tobey Maguire - Spider-Man: No Way Home

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter - Bill & Ted Face The Music

Keanu Reeves - The Matrix Resurrections

Eddie Murphy - Coming 2 America

That's just a sample.

Not to mention reboots of old shows, often with original cast members reprising their roles. Fuller House, The Conners, etc.
