All of a sudden it's everywhere snd the only way to get rid is to pay. Quel surprise The advertising has slowed down posting and made it impossible in some cases. Predictable but very sad.

I have an ad-blocker, so I don't see it, however ... as of today I started seeing this message at the top of every page: Please consider supporting this website by disabling your ad-blocker. This website does not use audio ads, popups, or other annoyances. Thank you! That certainly didn't take long. How much longer will it be till they decide a polite request isn't enough, and just outright prevent you from using the site until you disable the ad-blocker?

I can't see anything, just ads at top, one suspiciously related to things I've been googling. 😱
Nope, I was wrong. Some on the bottom too.

How on earth does advertising slowdown posting? Is my internet speeds that good?
I have no issues with ads.
If a person doesn't want them, they should think about paying for it.

Internet speeds in New Zealand are very slow compared to the rest of the world. Data costs are very high. It all adds up to a big problem.

The only person I know of in NZ using dial up, or at least until somewhat recently, is you. The main issue may well be because you are often posting on your phone. On a PC browser, there is no issue.

Hardly intrusive is it?
How do you expect free forums to pay for the service they provide?
Would you rather we all paid a cash subscription fee, or have a few unobtrusive ads?
The latter for me.

Are you deliberately forgetting that I live here and that I work with people from other countries who know how slow our speeds are compared to theirs.

I too work with people from 84 different markets and NZ has always been great. If you are still using dial up then there will be a problem. We FaceTime a friend in Wellington ( well actually the countryside outside Wellington, the middle of nowhere ) once a month with no problems at all. Maybe it's because you use your phone. The advertising isn't causing a problem to me, just irritating, but hey, if it's what pays for us not having to pay I don't mind it too much

I have not used dial up for years, Proggy's snooping is out of date. I am using my phone because I am too busy working to have time for the computer.

Ookla is a major internet testing service. And New Zealand isn't as primitive as you would lead us to believe.
