New trailer for the prequel to Predator.
Might be cool. It's a decent idea for a prequel and it looks competently made. The Comanche warrior being a woman is, pretty clearly, historically inaccurate and also very obviously the way you'd expect this to be approached now. And seeing these natives, presumably, somewhere in the early 1800s speaking perfect English in perfect American accents is a little silly, but of course that's just something you have to accept.
Anyway, might be cool.

If this came out before the Shane Black movie, I'd might be a bit more excited. Still, it looks better than expected.

It's getting a Comanche language dub also... so that's... Something.
It looks okay I guess.

Released today, watched it...its fantastic. Definitely recommend for any Predator fans. Better than expected. It was more than just the fun action movie that it could have been, and that would have been enough if it pulled that off, but there are actual characters and some great atmosphere. The action set pieces are well set up and there's an actual arc to everything. The worry from the trailers is that they'd hit the 'strong woman fighting against patriarchy' thing way too hard, and there's also a whole 'the colonizers are the real monsters' thing, but that's not what it's really about. It's about this main character vs this threat of her environment, which includes those things, but also means the terrain, the animals, and the Predator. And that's all handled pretty well. The biggest complaint I have is that some of the CGI, especially some of the animals, doesn't look all that great, and it's not used sparingly. And there are times when the Predator is done in CGI which is a shame because he looks so great when you can see that it's a real person in practical applications. Also, it would have been cool if they didn't reveal that this was a predator movie in the trailers. They still could have called it Prey, used a different font for the title text in the trailers and posters, and then it would have been a cool reveal when you watched it. I understand why they wouldn't do that, but still, that would have been cool.

I did a second watch and didn’t realize how obviously cgi the bear was the first time through. The bold choice to have it mostly daylight makes it all the more obvious but it’s not so bad that it ruins the experience for me.

Thought it was really good. Could do without the CGI animals and the main lead did have some plot armour but it was a lot of fun. Like the original but with a unique setting and some great action and gore to boot.

The bold choice to have it mostly daylight makes it all the more obvious but it’s not so bad that it ruins the experience for me. For me it was at its worst in the shot when the you see the food-chain demonstration at all once. I think it started with a bug of some kind being eaten by a mouse who's then eaten by a rattle snake, and none of those animals looked convincing. And to your point; they were all shown in detailed closeups and lit in broad daylight. I think they all would have looked better had it not been so clear. It's almost like they were over-confident in their CGI. But I agree, it doesn't ruin an otherwise really solid movie, but a little more sparing and restrained use of CGI would have improved it.
