Hannibal in Italy is Jesus in the desert.
The Inspector is Judas
Mason Verger is the Roman Empire.
Clarice is Satan.
Him in the airplane at the the end is his ascension.

I think that's a bit of a reach, why would Clarise be Satan? She tried to save Hannibal from Verger.

I think that's a bit of a reach, why would Clarise be Satan? She tried to save Hannibal from Verger. She is trying to get Hannibal to turn himself in to her, is trying to get Judas to not turn Jesus over to the Romans and it ends with a final conflict with her. I agree that part is a reach. The rest isn't. Lecter is literally tied in the crucifixion position under the orders of Mason Verger during what is intended to be his execution. The Inspector is directly compared to Judas in the movie with intention to turn him over to Mason Verger for a fee. In the Bible it isn't clear how Judas died, but one of the accounts is that he died in a field with his intestines falling out of his body.

Is this an mstreepsucks thread? Why would it be? I am 100% serious in that I find it plausible. You can make so much of it fit. Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 nights in the desert and we could apply that to Hannibal not eating human flesh while in Italy.

OK you might actually be on to something, that picture CK posted isn't exactly subtle messaging.

OK you might actually be on to something, that picture CK posted isn't exactly subtle messaging. I am not sure about Thomas Harris, but Ridley Scott is an atheist. Comparing a cannibal serial killer to Jesus... What do Christians do? They eat Jesus's flesh and drink his blood. Symbolically of course, but still. The final scene in the movie is him feeding a brain to a child. This aspect I am just having a bit of fun with btw.

Though I know a lot of Christians hated it though, they thought it made God like a crazy psycho (which I mean he pretty much is in the Bible story anyways)

Ridley Scott directs Exodus, which portrays the God of the Old Testament as a child throwing a temper tantrum.

Just finding a few images that look similar isn't convincing. Being shackled, getting betrayed, and having a supper are very common for prisoners. Flying in a plane is the "ascension" only metaphorically- but anything can be stretched to mean anything else if you want.
This is a weak argument

All kidding aside, it wouldn't be the first wild theories I've heard about a film. I remember way back during my college days one of my friends was so fucking high he was trying to explain to me all types of conspiracy theories about Stanley Kubrick being murdered by the Illuminati because of his final film Eyes Wide Shut. He went into a great amount of detail about all the symbolism used by Kubrick to showcase & expose these very powerful & sinister type of group that was featured in Eyes Wide Shut. Now at the time I was looking at him like Mac was looking at Charlie in that episode of Its Always Sunny like he was out of his mind or just insanely high. As it would turn out, I was actually completely oblivious to know that there has been quite a bit of extensive discussions for many years about that very subject ranging from books written about it, news articles featured in major publications to wide spread video analysis think pieces all over Youtube and other forums & websites dedicated to Eyes Wide Shut . And with the recent events of the laughable news of Jeffery Epstein committing suicide in a prison with 24/7 surveillance (who could have potentially named names of very powerful evil people ) I gotta say, I think my college friend was definitely onto something and most importantly, Stanley Kubrick was attempting to tell the whole world something decades ago. Anyways, apologizes for the long post. I'll go back to watching Paw Patrol with my niece & nephew while wearing tin foil hats. Nothing to see here folks!

Anyways, apologizes for the long winded post. Don't mind me & my tin foil hat bs. . I realize you are joking, but I actually don't use drugs at all. I barely even drink alcohol. Conspiracy theories are an entirely different matter, because they effect reality. That doesn't mean none of them are true, it means that there isn't enough evidence to conclude that they are in fact true. I suspect Jeffrey Ebstein was murdered, as I think that is reasonable to believe considering how much dirt he had on so many important people. I don't think that theory is very far fetched. Could he have just committed suicide though? Of course. Both are easy to believe. Was 9/11 an inside job? Is the Earth flat? Is the world run by baby eating liberals? Was the moon landing faked? You are going to need heaps upon heaps of good evidence to back those claims and all there is speculation. The difference between these and the Jeffrey Ebstein thing is that the Jeffrey Ebstein thing isn't a ridiculous claim.

Was the moon landing faked? Ironically another conspiracy that a lot of people associate with Stanley Kubrick. Yup. He apparently symbolically admits it in The Shining. I don't think people realize how much would need to go into keeping that a secret. The flat Earth theory is probably the single dumbest conspiracy theory I have ever heard though. It is extreme skeptics and religious fundamentalists that believe this nonsense. An extreme skeptic isn't really a skeptic, they are a cynic.

Mason Verger is the Roman Empire. Oldman DID play Pontius Pilate. Coincidence? I think not! That is funny, because that is the specific person I was thinking about when saying Verger symbolizes the Roman Empire.
