A friend of mine in America has taken on the hobby of TV series binge watching. I’ve done this with a few series over the years (usually by buying DVDs for entire TV series). Netflix has a lot. My friend isn’t normally a TV watcher but seeing episodes back to back instead of waiting a week or a summer between episodes and seasons can be addictive. Waiting a week seems like such a drag now. Do you guys do binge watching?

Yeah, having to wait each week for a new 1883 was annoying (that show is a masterpiece BTW).
I recently started Shameless. I don't know why it took me so long to watch this. It's definitely my kind of humor, and damn, it's pretty hot at times, I didn't see that part coming.

I started doing that with Yellowstone as well. If you haven’t see The Staircase on HBO, that’s a good one to binge.

Yea, especially during COVID days. I’ve grown weary of it, though. There’s clearly a formula, and sometimes it doesn’t work for me. Also, I found Netflix to be slipping BEFORE the price increases, etc. Also, when deeply entrenched in a good one, when suddenly a ‘meh’ season shows up. I found “Dexter” very frustrating in that way. OTOH? “Barry began emphasizing the ‘dark’ in ‘dark comedy’ this last season, almost to the point of ‘not enjoyable’. But then? The seasons last two episodes redeemed it for me. Here’s something I never expected to say? “That Bill Hader is some actor!”. Always loved him on SNL, but didn’t expect powerful dramatic acting from him!

Ironically, I did this (not on purpose) with Friends and Seinfeld. My local TV station would play one episode of a specific series each night after the local news and I would watch it. It wasn't exactly binge watching since I had to wait a whole day for the next show, but it was far better than waiting for a week. It's how I saw Friends, Seinfeld and Deep Space Nine. In more recent years, I saw the entire CSI (original series in Las Vegas) on DVDs after it was finished. I had seen a bunch of them, but not all. I've seen a few series on Netflix. I love it that when they start a season, they release all the episodes for the entire season on the same day. There's no need to wait, I guess, and they know they have bingers in the audience.

I'm watching the Time Traveler's Wife (series) on HBO and made the mistake of starting it before it all dropped. It's making me nuts to wait a week for each episode like a luddite.

It’s been five and he just met her parents.

I've seen the movie but I haven't read the book. I've read soooooo many of the book versions of movies that I like. It's fun. Sounds like a good one to read.

Me, when a series drops a week at a time: "God, I hate having to wait! Why can't they just release it all at one so I can binge it?"
Me, when they release a series all at once so I can binge it: "God, now I'll have to drop everything and watch this whole show in a day or two so that I don't get spoiled by the internet! Why can't they just release it weekly?"

Agreed. Except maybe when he was 16. 😂

I sorta binge watch. I know people who watch a whole season in like a day or weekend. I can’t do that. But I like being able to watch something over the course of say 2-3 weeks rather than 10 or even 22 weeks.

Binge watchers are that stupid kid who ate his chocolate all at once, whined it was all gone and got sick on top of it.

Isn't it sad to be a constant display of public stupidity without ever noticing it? Sad for the witnesses, of course.
