My cool son sent me the Father's Day Package from Katz's!
Brisket (I think) and Pastrami (or Corned Beef?) - can someone check? I don't want to know pricing, as there was no other info.
Dill Pickles Half-Sour Pickles 2 seedless Rye Breads 2 identical jars of mustard
Does this look correct? ^
I've already had some bread and am going to heat up some meat!

I think it's corned beef. Best I've ever had, and the half-sours also. Still would like verification, already had to see one price katzsdelicatessen.com/

I didn't know that they shipped. I used to go to Carnegie Deli, when I visited NYC. The last time I was there, in 2018, I wanted to try Katz's, but I met some other friends, there, and various activities got in the way.
Happy Father's Day!

I thought that was what Joel had on Northern Exposure in "Russian Flu" but it was the Stage Deli. Still impressive gift.

NJtoTX - I looked it up and found this....Every year, the iconic New York deli offers a variation on the package, and this year’s package, which became available on May 14, is loaded with everything you need for a serious sandwich. The box includes one pound of sliced brisket, one pound of sliced pastrami, one pound of sliced corned beef, one loaf of rye bread, one pound of mustard, two quarts of pickles—your choice of two full sour, two half sour, or one of each—and choice of a T-shirt or hat, too.

Weird. I got 2 ryes, 2 mustards, no T-shirt or hat. Thanks.

I don't eat meat except for maybe 5 times per year - when I go to tasting menu restaurants, when I'm hammered at a BBQ, and when I'm near Katz' Deli.

While you guys are out deli hopping, you really ought to try out Koch's in Philadelphia. If you can get in the front door. It is very popular and rightly so. I had lox and cream cheese on a garlic bagel with tomato and onion. Best I have ever had. The owner of the place talked me out of having salt and pepper on it. Advice I have heeded ever since. I asked him if he was related to the former mayor of New York City and he said he was a fifth cousin. Interesting bit of trivia.

There is a Jewish Deli in Houston I've really wanted to try. Just a 7 hour round trip and full tank of gas to go. www.kennyandziggys.com/

OT but, did you ever have Cheesecake at Juniors ? Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn. Nope, not a cream cheese fan. Cheesecake is just a way to ruin cake. Never ate in Brooklyn, I don't think. Not even John's famous pizza. Didn't spend time there. Used to walk over the Brooklyn Bridge at lunch sometimes. Not sure what food I could have gotten at the other end.

I was to Jr's just once with a cheesecake fanatic who absolutely swore by it ... to me it was just cheesecake <shrug> Growing up, eating out was going to The Automat or someplace in Chinatown or grabbing a Nedick's Orange and a hot dog before getting on the subway. Never did get in the habit of restaurant eating.

Never did get in the habit of restaurant eating. I ate at the automat somewhere around 28th and Lexington. First time I had cilantro was in Chinatown. Really wanted to try the place, 456 Shanghai on Mott. I kept gagging, thinking there was soap in the food. Restaurant is still there.

And I don't eat mustard, except for some ghost pepper mustard I use, Chinese hot mustard, and some honey mustard dressing on the side. I'll taste it. Maybe I can doctor it. 2 containers, I'll likely give one away. Ok, just opened one. Smells/looks like regular poop-on mustard. Wary of tasting.
