Now that photo took skill, to frame that with the reflection of the landscape in the bubble, and work fast to get it in focus! Beautiful!

I need a baby kitten fix! Foxy , I think you need one, also! Awwwww! Kittens and puppies are so adorable! I have 2 cats who I love and adore. Funny thing is, before I got my 2nd one, I had never heard my cat hiss. But that all changed 7 years ago, when I got my 2nd one. My older one tolerates her at times, but usually it’s hissing and chasing. I do love looking at pics of nature, but I hate being out in it. Not a camping fan. Yesterday I saw the most beautiful clouds; fluffy white with smaller, darker clouds in front. I wanted to take a pic of it.

Oh, I am a photo addict, and it must be frustrating, in that thing you are in, to not be able to take one. When I was on chemo, I felt so awful and weak. My Dad had come down to my house to help if I needed it, and I saw the loveliest red cardinal in the top of a pine tree in the front yard! I wanted that picture! So, Dad bundled me up - it was cold and wet - and the bird was still there, and I got the photo! But when we came inside, I had accidentally stepped in dog pooh, and was so weak that I just sat down on the floor. Dad went for the paper towels and wiped it all off my shoe. But when he turned to throw it in the trash can, I said "No, Dad!" He looked at me...? And I said, don't throw it away, it's still good" He chuckled - he was always reusing things that were 'still good' - but he said this time that it really was NOT still good! Photos really do help sometimes!

I only had a bivy bag, not a tent, so it was slightly terrifying. I told him to go away, and he finally did, but others came later on. Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep. I think that might be the last time I try camping on this trip...

Basically things I can’t do when in bed and don’t feel like putting my brace on to do something that would be quick. I do everything else myself. But it’s nice knowing he’s here.

Everyone says wild boars are not aggressive unless they feel cornered or threatened, but hearing the loud snorting and grunting in the dark is still pretty unnerving. At very least, it makes it awfully hard to get any sleep. I think I'll only camp as a last resort, if I can't find a room. It certainly wasn't an experience that I want to repeat.

Once while camping as a teen with mother and Dad, we were on a sandbar by a river, and stayed in our tent while wild pigs ran by, but the most worrisome thing for my Dad was the d@*n whippoorwill that WOULD NOT SHUT UP, no matter how many times he threw rocks in its general direction to shoo it away!

Oh jeez, that sounds horrible!!! Way better, to me, is to lay in a nice warm bed where wild animals/bugs can’t get to me.

I'm not sure if a hammock would have made any difference. The hogs are just very noisy, and that alone made it really hard to sleep. I think if I do it again, I'm going to have to choose my spot more wisely. I should have realized that the path was overgrown to waist height because it wasn't humans who were using the path. And I should have seen the disturbed soil as a red flag. I just had no idea there would be so many of them. It was like the wild pig superhighway. Honestly, I was more focused on people not finding me. I could get fined, and being alone on the edges of civilization isn't hugely safe, either. All in all, it could have been worse. All I lost was a little sleep.

This photo, if it works, is just like the photo I took a few minutes ago of my frog that has been living in my water garden all summer! Previously, I found him curled up in a pot holding another pot with dirt and flowers. I was taking plants inside to escape a frost, found him getting ready to hibernate, and put him back in the water hyacinths. Today is warm and lovely, and he came out for a look around! I have a hibernation spot all fixed up for him, just next to the water garden, so I trust he will know when to take up residence. I read up on the web what he needed.

Should have gotten one ages ago but, they were bot invented yet ! Leave a small pile somewhere protected, that is what frogs hibernate under! They also like hollow logs, too - mine has a hollow log with dirt around it and lots of leaves over the top. Beautiful shot of sun coming through the leaves! I remember the good old days when we raked and jumped in the piles, and then burned! Dried corn stalks were tied together at the top like a teepee, and I could hide inside!

There will be plenty of piles here and there and everywhere ... twenty plus Maples plus assorted everything elses treewise ! Had lots of toads this year and those tiny tiny ones that seem to appear out of nowhere and disappear just a quickly. The picture is a google image ... I just noticed the face in the leaf pile ! I like the smell of burning leaves and sometimes put some on the outdoor fire in the evening just to enjoy that smell.
