It hardly needs pointing out that Christians have been disappointed in a Second Coming for centuries.

Luckily for them they didn't drink the Kool-aid.

It hardly needs pointing out that Christians have been disappointed in a Second Coming for centuries. It never ceases to amaze me, when a group is this brainwashed by religion. Not just Christianity, but other religions. It is known that one group in Central America buried children and babies alive as a sacrifice to a deity. Hindu multiple wives were expected to throw themselves alive on the funeral pyre when their husband died. I think that as the world becomes more complex, it is easier to revert to some belief system for answers, that may not be correct but promise a security of salvation and escape from death in the spiritual sense. There is an old quote about a believer being happier than a skeptic, compared to a drunken man being happier than a sober one. I can't find the exact quote or who said it right now.

What isn't in the quote, however, is the rest of the article: Amazing how the three Abrahamic religions cannot get along. One would think they could find common ground.

It never ceases to amaze me, when a group is this brainwashed by religion. The article says they were abducted and confined, not brainwashed. Other reports say that no one pressed charges, either the 'abductees' or the authorities.
