"Nearly everybody's favourite B movie bad girl" says Quinlan, adding "she looked like Jane Wyman gone to the bad" Buffs cherish two of her movies in particular THE KILLING, ideally paired with Elisha Cook Jr and a great turn in THE NARROW MARGIN She enjoyed a 46 year run on the Big screen (1941-87). She started in bits (SONG OF THE THIN MAN, THE HUCKSTERs, THEB THREE MUSKETEERS) but by the end of the 40s was getting leads in minor movies LITTTLE BIG HORN is a good western HURRICANE ISLAND starred her as a lady pirate - with the Fountaon of Youth as added inducement to watch Marie making life difficult for title character The unmissable SWAMP WOMEN THE GIRL IN BLACK STOCKINGS is said by some to be a proto giallo in SALEMS LOT 1979 She appeared in ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET THE MUMMY and FREAKY FRIDAY and played opposite everyone from Brando to Bob Hope MOST WANTED Any other Marie fans out there?

Reportedly she caused behind-the-scenes difficulties because she was 5', 9''. She was good in The Narrow Margin but it seems like she just happened to appear in movies that I did see like from her filmography.

Outpost in Morocco (1949) Action and adventure directed by Robert Florey. Overall a pretty dull affair, however the location shooting is very good and a highlight always is Marie Windsor, here starring as the Emir's daughter, Cara. Cara takes a dip

Thanks for the tribute! She didn't have to hide her length standing beside John Wayne in Cahill U.S. Marshal 1973, she played the kind of good hearted Madam that only existed in movies. The movie in itself I thought was better than it's rumoured to be. Well we knew he was short, Marie and Dennis Hopper as Josephine and Napoleon Bonaparte in The Story of Mankind 1957. An idiotic waste of many actors talents, and fun to watch just because of that. She appeared in over 170 movie and television productions, but for me it's The Killing 1956 that sticks out.

The Sunday Times Movies on TV guide awarded it a "Ring up and complain" rating and said it was a "candidate for the worst movie ever made.... an unbelievable charade"!!!!. A bit unfair I thought. Where else do you get Marie & Dennis, Cedric Hardwicke (as God), Ronald Colman, Vincent Price, Hedy Lamarr, Virginia Mayo, Peter Lorre, Agnes Moorehead, Francis X Bushman and the Marx Bros on the same marquee?
