You go back to an older show that you already watched a long time ago. But, you're actually excited to watch it all again. I know I have.
How many people here have done that? Without actually naming what shows they were?

This is actually what I have been doing lately with the Sesame Street show. Since it started way before I was even born, I've been watching the clips of my favorite character over at You Tube and of course a good deal of the clips are ones that are from before I was even thought of. This episode right here was from six years before I came around and was labeled too scary for kids after being shown only one time. God bless you always!!! Holly (a girl who will forever love the late beautiful precious masterpiece of a gentleman who gave us David) P.S. The more that I watch what happens, the more that I am on David's side. I don't blame him for standing up for himself when her broom came down on him right up out of nowhere. Also, with it being 1976, letting her get away with treating him like dirt I guess would have only been a step backwards where treatment of African Americans is concerned. If the witch had politely asked that the broom be returned, there never would've been anything to withhold and she would've been back home a whole lot sooner. Also because of the way that it entered the picture in the first place, how was David supposed to know who it belonged to? The witch should just be glad that it was well taken care of while in the possession of who ended up getting it. If Oscar had gotten it, she most definitely never would have gotten it back if he had been the one to catch it.

I wouldn't re-watch a show unless I was excited to watch it again.

The Drew Carey Show has been cracking me up all over again. It's so deliciously non-PC for this day and age.

I'm always thankful to Drew Carey of Ohio for this performance by the Muffs (one of my favourite bands) which I know meant a lot to the band ...

Good pick...I have a soft spot for the 'musical' episodes from the series, showcasing both other performers as well as the surprisingly multi-talented Drew himself. I just recently re-watched the show where the entire cast (along with guest star Hal Linden) re-create the 'Brotherhood of Man' sequence from How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying--an absolute delight. I wish broadcast television was doing more of this sort of thing today!

I rewatch a slate of shows over and over. Periodically adding a new one to the rotation.

I watch old, even, by TV standards, ancient shows; nearly all black and white, almost exclusively, though I make exceptions.
For me, familiarity breeds not contempt, but affection.
All this aside, I keep track of what's going on in the world; not in great detail, but I do; and I'm by no means out of it. What I'm referring to in response to the OP has more to do with aesthetics than personal psychology, though that's unavoidable, I suppose.
The so-called Good Old Days really weren't that good, for most of humanity especially, but a lot of this has to one's nationality, race, and what time period seems the most idyllic. What makes earlier times more attractive to me is their art, whether music, painting, literature or architecture (and that's just for starters), not how people lived, who was exploited, and by whom. I know a good deal about this, and I abhor cruelty.
My tastes are for me very much in the here and now. I have my nostalgic and sentimental moments, but I am not driven by them to make alternate fantasy worlds of kings and princes, dungeons and dragons, knights and castles,--take your pick--this isn't for me, though for those who choose to indulge in such imaginings I have no ill feelings toward them. Nor am I inclined to moralize about such things.
I'd love to hear what other have to say on this topic, and I hope that it's polite, and what follows makes us feel better about who we are and what we do with the time available to us.
